Insulated Tiles redundant?

Now that we can make tiles as out of Abyssalite is there any need for Insulated tiles?

I think the visual aspect has merit.

Yes, normal tiles give + decor whereas insulated tiles don't if I recall correctly.

I use abyssal for vents and pipes in areas that I don't want temperature conversions to happen in and several layers on whatever happens to be close and abundant saving my granite for construction of living areas

Nobody talks about it, but I think granite is quite precious given that it has very high thermal conductivity and there is limited quantities of it while it has many uses.  There is no way that I know to make it from anything else.

Wolframite is what you want when it comes to thermal conductivity.

You can not make gas/liquid pipes out of them and you know I use these things a lot.

Granite also has the highest hardness for common materials. Excellent for holding water in.  Only the 4 tungsten elements are harder.
There are other elements obviously but they aren't in normal gameplay.

Why would one use something other than gas permeable tiles to fence in water?

Probably because it is a hack and that it might eventually break from pressure when the developer get around to fixing the various hacks.
