Clockwork (Chess) Biome/Setpiece on Oasis

Recommended Posts

So I was playing on an ANR beta server when I came across this odd setpiece. Usually this setpiece of two clockwork knights and a skeleton with two gears and a spear should be on some marble and carpet turf, but because setpiece spawned in/around the oasis, the turf didn't spawn. Not sure if this is intended or a bug, or what will happen to the knight when summer arrives and the lake fill with water.

Really interesting, it seems that the oasis' set piece has overwritten the chess' one?

Although I haven't experienced with it myself, I saw a video where a lake didn't fill up until its surface got clean. So I guess as long as the knight is sleeping on that lake, you won't be able to fish there.

This whole situation is strange because I just saw a world today where the oasis also had a chess set piece, there were a knight and a bishop with a harp statue.

...although that would be kinda cool.

Huh!  And here I thought my worldgen putting a catcoon in the oasis because "BIRCH TREES, DURRR" was funny.  _This_ is a whole other level! : P

Is the knight trapped, or can he come towards you?  If the latter, you can kill him and still get the pond to fill up.  If NOT, well...

The oasis lake can be walked upon. I think they should be able to duel.

You know what?  I'm always a bit disappointed that I can't click on the dry pond and have my character _say_ something about it, like with the empty walrus camps.  Is it just me?  It seems like there totally SHOULD be a line there.  I can just see, for one example, Willow going "Yesssss! All the nasty water is gone!"  Wigfrid would say something about the Norse god of water/the oceans not having blessed this place yet, Wickerbottom would be all scientific and figure out that the pond was seasonal in some very fancy-sounding language, etc.

They should also totally say something about the pond when it _is_ there--perhaps Wilson's can be a variation on what he says about the regular frog-ponds, about seeing or not seeing the bottom.  Obviously this latter would only happen when not holding a fishing pole, or if you hold Alt or whatever while clicking.

...Nothing to do with anything, but, still.  It'd be nice.

EDIT:  Haha, I just took a closer look at the screenshot and realised your Wigfrid is almost wearing my favourite summer outfit!  Well, it's the skirt from my current favourite summer outfit with the cardigan from my winter one.  Hee.
