SpoonsOnMyElbows
Hi guys, so, i've been doing lotssss of experimenting. (About 80 hours so far). And one thing i've noticed is that instant build (ctrl + f4) creates really cold stuff, especially walls. Has anyone found a way to set the temperature of instantly built walls (and other objects)? Currently they build at -31 and -41 degrees. And even with insulated tiles, if you build a square of this, you will soon find the gas inside the square is sub zero. I know i can set the temperature with instant build mode off, as the temperature is always the temp of the materials you used to build it, but it seems the default instant build material is set to -31 or -41. Thanks in advance guys! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/75447-using-debug-instant-build-everything-is-so-cold/ Share on other sites
Radje
So far there is no way to change this in game I think, I've been looking at some files to see if I can change it there, but I'm not sure yet if it will work (currently my attempts keep crashing the game). What you can do in the meantime though, is place the tiles like you did before (they will be -31 or -41 depending on selected material), and then place natural blocks with the "cell painter" inside the tiles. You will not see the natural blocks, but as you can choose their temperature you will be able to temporary combat the coldness of the tiles. I say temporary because instead of tiles, natural blocks actually do change their own temperature in relation to their surroundings and will thus cool down over time, while the tiles will always remain the same temperature no matter what. Hope this helps for now and I bet they will change it in the future, as I'm curious how they test stuff internally with the current mechanics. SpoonsOnMyElbows
Thanks Radje, unfortunately your work-a-round will not work for what i'm trying to test currently I'm currently just painting the materials they need to build the tiles at the right temperature, but it's going to take a while.. Radje
If I may ask, what are you trying to test/build? If you need materials at a certain temperature, just not use tiles. Create everything out of natural blocks, as their behavior is quiet similar to tiles. Al tough that won't help you if you need any objects or gas permit-able tiles and such... MerlinofManitou
To build a tile with a normal temp using the cell painter: Once auto build is activated, auto build your desired tiles. Yes they are currently -31c or -41c. Then un-check all of the boxes in the cell painter except for temp and affect buildings (make sure those are checked), input temp in k(298 ends up being 24.8C) Then paint your tiles to their new temp. Enjoy! -Merlin Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/75447-using-debug-instant-build-everything-is-so-cold/#findComment-882604 Share on other sites
Mijae
Note that you need to use a solid when you're painting over tiles. If you pick a gas the tiles actually turn into gas underneath them. If you paint over non-tile buildings (like plumbing) with gas at a certain temperature they'll take on that temp too. Another thing I've noticed is that you need to unpause to let the tiles complete their building before you try to deconstruct them or they get bugged out. "Note that you need to use a solid when you're painting over tiles." This is not true. The usage I have offered is not a gas or a solid, it just changes the temp. (un-check the material type box) I'll phrase it like this. To change a tiles temp: Un-check all of the boxes in the cell painter except for temp and affect buildings (make sure those are checked), input temp in k. Paint your tiles to their new temp. This changes the temp of tiles, natural solid material, gas, liquid, dupes, pipes or anything else under the painter square.
