CrutchPunk
Sorry if this isn't quite the right place for this, I wasn't sure where to post... I've been playing for quite a while, multiple colonies and countless hours spent... My current colony, I have 3 manual generators, a Coal Generator, and a Hydrogen generator, as well as 3 large, and 3 small, batteries... but my colony still runs out of energy. Is there a specific setup/system I am missing or not understanding? Do the batteries need to be hooked up in a certain way to actually BUILD UP (and hold) a charge? Zervo
how big is your base, how much machines are you using? can you attach some screenshots? your base and the layout of your wires. each machines have power consumption tag on it, so you need to watch out how much you use and produce. another tips: don't use small battery anymore once you have research the big one. it only trigger your dupes to run into the manual generator because they often run out of juice Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/75152-not-quite-grasping-the-basics-of-generating-electricity/#findComment-875503 Share on other sites

Octyabr
That's a lot of refrigerators! (I have none since I find them a little useless right now) And also you have too few batteries, That's easy to see why they deplete so quickly. Starvation was solved, but I ended up with a surplus of mush bars, and didn't want them to spoil, so I preemptively started an extensive storage. I suppose I can disable some that aren't being used until others become full.. I'll add more batteries. Is there a specific way I should be laying out the wiring to be more efficient w/production? Like having the generators before the batteries, then have the power leading out from them? Or, is that not necessary at the current build, and I just don't have enough batteries? Octyabr
Don't worry about the wiring layout since all wires are superconductors! so you wont lose any power no matter how long are the wires. The only downside is that batteries generate A LOT of heat, you can boil water with them. If you want and advise, build an array of them, then seal them off and then connect them to the grid. this way the heat will be trapped.
