TheDR
To begin, I've got a suggestion for the current stress response, lashing out. Lashing Out The only thing my stressed dupes destroy is my algae oxygen generators, which is odd when their main complain is the lack of oxygen. A few ideas of what other things they could lash out on: They could attack a bed of a dupe they don't like. They could start to throw things out of a storage container (leaving piles of resources scattered on the floor). They could destroy pieces of art. Alternative Stress Responses Ghost They disappear to a corner of your base and stare bug eyed at nothing for a period of time. Prankster They take out their stress on others while considerably reliving their own stress. They might put cling film over the toilet, a rope to trip up other dupes or spike someone's food with something disgusting. When dupes partake in their pranking behaviour they set traps and waste their time waiting for others to stumble into them. If no one gets caught by their trap, their stress level increases. Drug Abuse This is assuming drugs (even something like coffee) make their way into the game. The dupe with binge on their favourite vice. Pig Out The dupe would consume more food than they need, cutting deep into your supplies. Wallow in Filth The dupe would be immune to feeling dirty, but once their stress level hits high enough they become a walking contaminated source, giving any dupes that walk passed the 'stepped in contamination' modifier. Narcissist Once stressed, they draw in another dupe that is close by and begin to monolog about how great and unappreciated they are. Anyone else got any stress response ideas? deadgag
Although I think the desctructive dupes should still break important machines to force a quick response to that, I agree with adding those things you listed as targets. I like all your suggestions. Let me see what we could add, maybe the dupes waking up other dupes in the middle of the night due to nightmares? Or maybe they could get really anxious and go full ADHD, being incapable to focus on one task, even ignoring prioritized assigned jobs. Still thinking about anxiety, they could go to the bathroom more frequently. Dupes assigned to cook could make poor food when too much stressed. An alternative for the monolog could be singing! They would sing for stress relief And you mentioned coffe, I hope we'll see something like that in the future. A beverage that could improve one's productivity, but of course with some drawback. HoovyEd
Ok, this might be too much, but maybe suicidal or simply depressed dupes? I know this is pretty hardcored and a hard topic, but maybe there could be a "suicidal" dupe, whose stress would be really hard to get to that level and (after 10 cycles or so in such level) would hang or drown itself. (then again, I know this is REALLY hard to talk about and that would be kinda hard to put a psychological disease inside a semi-comical game)
chromiumboy
Some of these suggestions seem a little dark, for ONI Here are some more suggestions: - Catatonia (greatly reduces productivity for the dupe) - Starting fights / arguments with other dupes (reduces productivity for both dupes) - Stress eater (eats extra food, ignoring calorie limits) - Hyperventilator (consumes extra oxygen)
JykeThePerson
Stuff: - Insomniac: won't be able to sleep during nights if stressed & get's heavy "tired"-rebuffs (or something)!! - Becoming unresponsive / go sulking in corner & "bringing surrounding mood down along themselves" OR - Some sort of depressive state where dupe is unable to become stressed, but continuously bring mood down with their presence!! (condition continuously ongoing) - Or another semi-depressive state where they try to sleep most of the day. - Responding to stress with their stomach, generating lot's of gas. - Seen someone suggest insanity, so my twist: will randomly go on their own guest to kill creatures that are not there, etc.!! - Anorexia: keep them happy or they will starve themselves to death!! (condition could maybe decrease their daily-consumption to extremely low amount)
MilleniumCount
This is an idea of @spoonshortage and I really like it Stress Singer They would start singing and reduce their stress level but every dupe hearing it would increase their stress level. majessticah
I think once they "lash out", "vomit", etc. they should receive a "catharsis" buff. Right now we're stuck in this cycle of never-ending stress and consequences. Stressed out, vomit, get everyone else stressed out, vomit, etc. etc. First of all stress needs to be nerfed a little bit, and in addition, once they lash out they need to return down to 0% stress or at least a bit lower with this "catharsis" buff. Right now we're stuck in an endless loop of stress with little-to-nothing to help it, the massage tables just aren't cutting it. I had an otherwise successful colony just go into chaos because of stress. It's part of the game, I get it, but if there's nothing to better manage it, it's just a nuisance. I specifically am not picking any Vomiters in my current colony just because the neverending cycle of vomiting and stressing everyone else out for stepping in contaminated liquid just destroyed my last colony. I'm also managing stress fairly well with extreme attention to decor, but yeah, the catharsis buff would make lashing out actually help a bit. And I support a lot more variety for stress responses. I like the ideas about affecting other nearby Dupes, about being less productive, and about nightmares.
