w00tyd00d
Lemme just start out by saying I freaking love this game already I've already started a new world 3 times just so I can apply what I learned from mistakes I made in the previous playthroughs. There is one reoccurring trend I've noticed from all 3 playthroughs, however, and that's the speed at which it takes for your printer to print your next Duplicant. In the very beginning of your game, it's almost as if I'm begging for more Duplicants to be printed because there's so many things I want to get done.(could naturally just be because I'm coming from a previous save where I already have multiple Duplicants and are able to assign many to a single task to get it done quicker) But then later as the game progresses, about the 2-3 hour marker, I find myself thinking "ah crap, where am I gunna put them all -.-" which isn't inherently bad game design, but I do think it could use just a tad bit of tweaking. Maybe something like instead of having it be a flat rate of 30 min per print, the first one could start at 20 min, then the second print could be 30 min, and then from the third print on it would be 40 min. Then maybe what you could do is set it so that if you reject your choices, you'd just have to wait 20 min instead of the full duration. That way the early game doesn't drag as much, and the mid-game doesn't become a game of "where is THIS Duplicant going to sleep tonight..." lol
SenhorLevi00
This game is all about planning the future, but in some poits I agree with you. In one of my playthroughs, i reach a point of the game that i was too busy, that i reject the printing 3 times because I thought i couldn't handle anymore dupes. I had the impression that the printing time decreases each cycle, but i dont know...
TheDR
I had a same problem until I started just rejected them. It was an easy fix
HoovyEd
I guess the developers want this feeling of "UGH WHERE THE HELL CAN I FIND THESE MANY RESOURCES!!" so you'd end up having toe xplore further and further all the time. What I feel they could do tho is, instead of making the printing time longer every time would be to start putting a small price on the duplicactes and just leaving the opportunity there. So let's say I'm 5 hours in a game, base is set, plenty of food and energy for my good old 9 dupes. A tenth dupe is now avaiable, BUT I need to pay some water and food for him, so I can kinda have the idea (and the time) to prepare for a new being that I'll have to take care of. ZSST
I like this idea a lot having the 4th duplicant early is very important. And I love the idea about having to wait less if you just rejected a duplicant. This should really become a thing.
Kasuha
What about turning the printing pod to a device just the microbe musher? In order to make a new duplicant, you need to feed it e.g. some water and fertilizer, give it some power, and you need to run it for some time (shorter than current automatic interval) with a duplicant supervision. Then you can have total control over if and when you get a new duplicant available (though no control over whether you get a good duplicant).
