Mencken
- A backpack is better, when you die you may still need to move fast, with this option you have an instant 8 portable items. I use backpacks for staging new areas as well - Put tooth traps around berry bushes in your farm (so space out a little), then you don't waste time with turkeys and get quick & easy meat - Cover all roads and paths with spaced out tooth traps so you can travel freely, hounds attack and you just go for a jog I'm closing in on day 500 after a few weeks play, not hard to get there once you learn how to survive 1-2 winters. Starting to run low on rocks and gold which is forcing me into caves (Yes, I'm terrified). My mouse/keyboard skills are so-so, I watched a video on playing in the ruins, I'd probably never survive that. Ispin69
Backpack is a great idea! I use the tooth traps in my berry farm sometimes but when I don't I just leave a berry on the ground and attack when it comes for it. The issue with the third one is that meat and hounds tooth will be scattered all over the map. You'd have to run back the whole way to collect it all. I'd rather have mini fields of tooth traps if you're going to do that. Mobbstar
- Remember to drop the backpack a fair bit away from the touchstone. Lightning, fire and all that. - Use single wall segments to distract deerclops. I usually do this once my base is bigger than a screen. You should definitely make a lantern when in the caves. It is (alongside the miner hat) essential to survival down there.
