     I really doubt this type of mechanic would fit into DST but I thought it would be interesting in PvP.
What if there was a stamina meter for running/sprinting? (or maybe even over actions like jumping, although I'm not sure what their use would be. Jumping walls maybe? Dodging attacks?)
     In PvP, it's easy to lead your opponent on a wild Goose chase because really, what's preventing you from juking your opponent when your speeds are the same? Having the ability to run/sprint would add a new, but easy to understand mechanic that could add more strategy to the game than dancing around with your opponent until one of you finally lands a blow.
     The concept of stamina could be taken into many different directions that could get quite complex. I had a few basic ideas to flesh out the stamina mechanics.
1. A player passively regenerates stamina while idle or walking. (Perhaps slightly highly stamina regen while idle, but you get the idea) There could also be a cooldown on stamina regeneration. (So after spending stamina, you must wait X seconds before you start passively regenerating stamina.)
2. Eating foods may restore stamina.
3. Different characters have varying stamina (A character like Wolfgang may drain stamina more quickly, just like how he drains hunger more quickly. A character like Maxwell or Wes may have less maximum stamina.)

I also had a few advanced ideas for stamina too
1. Attacking requires a bit stamina. (I was also thinking that players could attack half as fast but deal twice as much damage. This minimizes the annoyance of stun-lock and will make attacks more meaningful)
2. Stamina expenditures will increase if you don't take breaks. (This rewards players who manage their stamina well)
3. Spending stamina also increases your hunger drain. (I guess this is pretty logical. Running would cause more hunger drain, if you jumped, that would drain a few points of hunger too. Maybe not attacking though)
 
This was just an idea that came to me. It's really not fleshed out well, but I'd love to hear the rest of your opinions.

I really wouldn't want mechanics like this that would get in the way of normal gameplay. I think something like this would be better as a mod instead of being in the vanilla game. But that's just the opinion of someone who thinks pvp is horrible in games with shallow combat systems.
