Best use of Houndius Shootius?

Recommended Posts

I recently crafted my first Houndius Shootius in Reign of Giants (and I am very proud of myself for having done so), and I've decided that I want to place it in this world instead of saving it for if I ever want to use the teleportato to farm more of them. However, one question still remains for me. Where should I place it? How should I place it? Would building a small set of walls around it to protect it from damage be a good idea? Any advice at all would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I made a Houndius Shootius in a DST world, but I think there aren't major differences between DS and DST at this topic. I strognly recomment to protect it with walls, because it can be easyly killed by a treeguard for example. I had 4 rings of walls around mine, to be safe and sure :D. But it is really helpful, you can easily farm a lot of bunnymen and other mobs with it (like koalephants, if you're lazy :) ). Just avoid placing it near to a herd of beefalos or bees :D, but it protects you effectively agains bats when your base is at a sinkhole.

If you want to be extra sure, add some rings of tooth traps around it too. It has a decent range, so you don't need mobs to get close to it/without swiping distance for it to be effective. You can also take advantage of immovable structures that giants can't destroy, if you're lucky, like ponds.

A really nice idea. I have never thought of that... :D
