Hi all,

I'm just learning and would like to make a character mod based on the splumonkey. Is it possible to clone Wilbur (with animations) and replace the art with that of a splumonkey or do Klei protect and not allow their game assets to be used? This is just for personal use.

Thanks, and sorry if this has been previously asked.

The art will be the same. I unfortunately don't have the artistic skill that many people have on here so for a first character I wanted to make a playable splumonkey using Klei's creature exactly how it looks now (If anything only minor changes). I'd be hopefully scripting in some interesting and unique perks and changes I have in mind. As mentioned this is a personal project for me to learn, I don't plan on releasing it if that would be a problem?

I wasn't sure whether Klei locked their art away so creatures they've created couldn't be used?

The only art assets Klei has 'locked' are the skins in Don't Starve Together as far as I'm aware.

Unintentional, iirc. Was changed to dyn to speed up loading times. Used to be tex, I still have all the tex files from the last update they were that, so that's neat. Sooner or later someone will make a tool for it.

Definitely not made to speed up the loading times.

Was made so that modders couldn't just rip the skins and make mods using them.

As a maker of such a tool, it is intentionally done in attempt to protect their assets.

Odd - I was told it was to load faster... Perhaps that was about the dyn files in credits.
