Guys, do you understand that your current system hurts probably 80% of innocent players and 20% of players who actually deserve it ? lanyo Posted October 8, 2016 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Klei may not have responsibility to handle griefers (I would like to know what statements they have made in regards to that) but I am in agreement that this has gone beyond griefing. It is online bullying. As the others have stated it is rendering a game unplayable and exploiting a system that was put in place to prevent this from happening. This is happening not only on Klei servers but basically any dedicated server on both normal and beta versions. Just to confirm this I watched as this one griefer using multiple accounts (by their own admission) go through every Klei dedicated server and vote kick until they could reset the world. One after the other. They usually wait until winter, which as RustyNayle states is hours of gameplay. Wait until they would be able to have a majority vote and systematically vote kick until they are able to reset the world. These servers would then fill again with new players and thus the process would begin again. One player (or more) making a game unplayable for dozens of other players. They have done this all week so that would go into the hundreds of players having their game experience ruined. It appears it has been going on a long time given the previous comments. And boy does this one person love the attention. If they are called out on it they resort to verbal abuse. If there is a bit of a deadlock with voting once people cotton on, they will go around destroying bases in the meantime. Griefers come with the territory, we all know that. But this is calculated, systematic and destructive. It is outright bullying. They know no one can do anything and are using that to their advantage. This has to STOP. I do not think private servers are the answer. I am not interested in naming names or punishment. I care about the people I play with and my friends online and the fact that this is quite disturbing. I noticed a lot of young kids play and I wonder what kind of effect it has on them. Those who don't know what is going on are quite confused as to why they are suddenly booted off with no explanation. It is not ok and I believe Klei and Steam now have a responsibility to do something - even if they have stated otherwise. But feeling harassed or targeted is not a good thing. I am actually more interested in what rights as players we would have, probably should have stated that. But it does also freak me out. Am not sure if you have had that experience. What is happening is not a game. It is online bullying. It is considered illegal. And by your suggestion I would have to hide myself and am having to change the way I play and bend my life in order to let a bully carry on with their behaviour. This is how I believe this stuff continues to carry on. I have already changed my profile name, gone offline but they can still see your profile and your name changes when you are in game. My friends can't see me when I am offline and I noticed if I have changed my user name often don't recognise its me online. Don't you think this person is taking it to far, how far do we let it go? I just tried that with a friend and a lag was so bad I couldn't play. One of my favourite things about playing Don't Starve Together was going on the Klei servers and meeting people from across the world and learning more about the game. I didn't read this before, who is stalking you? as you said thats cyberbullying and is illegal, but we got a clue here the griefer that's harassing you (I presume Clouds) is most likely a forum user. When I wrote that above I was a little angry and freaked out because I have never experienced this sort of thing before and was half joking about the lawyer. Am not sure its happening enough to be stalking I would say. But they do follow into games, I went in one server after being booted from another and within 10 minutes they came in and booted me. It was only me there and another player who joined just before it happened. Once I moved to the beta version and they came in and did their usual tricks. But because they tend to move across all servers and affect most players am not sure I could say I am targeted. But think what they are doing overall to everyone is cyber bullying and illegal for sure. And yes it is Clouds. I am trying to be careful in what I say with all of this but its hard because I do find it disturbing. Its been a learning curve because this is my first experience of online gaming. Like I said I am not sure I could classify it as stalking and at the time I wrote the above it certainly felt it was crossing boundries. If it continues to happen and I feel I am targeted I will certainly keep record of it.
