A little help with Lure and Eyeplants?

Recommended Posts

So I've gotten myself into quite the conundrum.

I, a very inexperienced and poor Don't Starve player, have made it the longest I ever have without dying: early spring. Which is pathetic I know, especially considering how many hours I have on this game. Nevertheless, I am very proud of my progress and would very much not like to have to start over again.

The conundrum of which I speak is the image attached.

You're probably wondering why on earth I allowed the Lureplant that spawned in the literal middle of my base conveniently between my two crock pots to go unbothered long enough to spawn a bunch of pesky and rude Eyeplants. Well, the answer to that is simple. I had never seen a Lureplant before and was terrified to "fight" it without having any idea what it would do. Any normal person would have performed a short Google search in order to learn of this mysterious and menacing plant that randomly spawned in the middle of their base, I however, am not normal. So I let the beast fester. I didn't kill it before it laid eggs. I have no clue what to do about this. I understand if the Lureplant is killed all of the Eyeplants will go away, but how am I supposed to get to the Lureplant and kill it without dying??? I have a football helmet and a log suit, and have already attempted to wade into the Eyeplant sea to vanquish its creator, but the armor did nothing for me. I have nearly no health left. I'm not one to use mods that make the game unnecessarily easier or defeat the principles of the game, but even if I were to install a mod that allowed me to respawn at the portal after death, I would STILL be dead without all of my items I've collected that are stored in my base. If I were to install a mod that would allow me to respawn at the fire pit, do I even have to mention how that would go? I can't even get to my food, starvation is imminent. Death at this point seems inevitable. I refuse to set my base on fire for the sole purpose of destroying the makers of my demise; I can't risk losing my mandrakes and pan flute, not to mention everything else I've collected this whole time.

So please, tell me, if there is any possible way for me to fix this, how?

If you truly feel there is no other way than to set my home ablaze, give it to me straight.

*edit* please excuse the picture quality, I hastily took it with my phone to share with my significant other.

Well, I'd attack the eyeplants to make some kind of  "path" to the Lureplant. After that, just hit it with all you got!

The biggest "problem" are the eyeplants and not getting hit by them, but they will go away with only one hit of a spear, so just tale care not to approach them without being for hitting, or for accidentally approaching one when trying to hit another one.

As the @ImDaMisterL and @WPH have said, a simple hit and run will do it for the eye plants and you make a path to the lure plant and kill it... but if you're unsure of your capabilities at the moment and would not want to risk dying, I suggest gathering a small pig army of about 2 or 3 and let them do the slaying... chances are they die but at least they can clear a few without risking your skin... btw, which character were you playing as again?

Ever used the attack key? I'm not sure if it's default is 'f' or if I bound it to that but that's what you want to use. Equip a spear and press the attack key near an eyeplant and hold it down, your character will attack fast enough that the eyeplants generally can't hit you before they die. Just keep it pressed down and your character will move from one to the other quickly.  Your goal is to clear the eyeplants in a path to the Lureplant and then destroy it, it can't attack you back like the eyeplants. Make sure you pick up the Lureplant after you destroy it or it will grow again, it makes a nice fire btw. :D

If your character starts clearing the eyeplants in a circle instead of going towards the lureplant, just back off and then face the lureplant and hold down attack again, you'll get there eventually.

This is always what I do to get rid of them quickly and easily. :)
