SKIN HEAVEN SERVERS: Any suggestion?

Recommended Posts

There's very little ways to deal with it. It's like death, you can't stop it, you can only delay it. With the mods they have, they can pretty much do anything. If they added an activity drop system so you'd actually have to play to get the skins, someone will find a way to make an idle server with that as well. Deleting the servers will only make more. It's like the Hydra. Cut one head off, two grow back in it's place.

The suggestion I was going to make was "keep mods that exist solely for this purpose like Auto Open Gift off the Steam Workshop and these forums", but from what I can tell, they are doing that, it just isn't stopping the creators of idle servers from getting their hands on those mods if they really want them.

The main reason it's difficult to prevent people from idling for skin drops is because any part of the game written in lua is moddable, which is most of it. In particular that includes the gift-opening system, console commands including godmode and supergodmode, and the idle kick. Most methods of forcing people to actually play the game in order to get their skin drops instead of standing in one spot for hours on end could thus be modded away. I'm confident that there are things Klei could do to stop people getting skins while idling that would be difficult or impossible to circumvent with mods, but I don't think they want to devote time and effort to rewriting the game just for that when they could be adding content.
