Disease... Seriously?

Not sure how you're getting these berry bushes that are dying of disease, but this means that your world is in the juicy berry bush phase. Regular berry bushes will become diseased and die in a short while if they're planted during it.

Well, when the feature was introduced, forestresourcespawner component used to spawn berry bushes, after all of them died to disease. So the berry bushes kept appearing, then dying. But this should be fixed by now.

Also, the set pieces with berry bushes should have juicy berry bushes now. Like the Goose nesting grounds.

Maybe he brought some from the caves, or had them stashed in a chest and took them out on the wrong year.

After regenerating many worlds, I saw there were either berry bushes, or juicy bushes, no combination of both. There's also the possibility his world comes from a previous update where you could have both of them, and berry bushes had yet to die. And they don't just all die at the same time.
