Make glacier disappeared after being mined

Recommended Posts

Could glacier disappear completely after being mined? I mean no even a puddle. It is somewhat disturbing when you build some structures and a glacier is spawned. Glaciers take the room where I may want to build something and what bothers me is that I cannot remove them.:wilson_dead:

Maybe not after being mined, but rather add some kind of new tool to help us remove the annoying glaciers. They do ruin your camp and take up valuable space. Console command does remove the visual but it appears after a while and still takes invisible space. Please Klei, consider something about these glaciers.

I am honestly very surprised that I dont see more threads about this. Is no one else bothered by the fact that you cannot remove the puddles? I wish Klei would at least address this and say that they are either working on an idea or that they don't plan to do anything.

I find it a little weird that the puddles stay nowadays anyway. In singleplayer, when you mine the glacier when it's frozen, it just disappears entirely. You get plenty supplies by just walking along the shore during winter and making arrogant penguins spawn, so I don't see the necessity to keep the puddles as a constant supply. If there really is an ice shortage issue in multiplayer, just increase the pengull spawnrate.

I totally agree. Glaciers are sometimes very boring in a camp.

I see few great solutions :

  • Add a new object "sponge" to delete the puddles after mining,
  • The puddles can totally disapear in summer.
  • Just completely delete glacier after mining.
  • Authorize to build things on the puddles (which will detroy the puddles)

I'm also kind of unhappy that there is no way to make pengull glaciers disappear in DST.

Another thing: In my DST game (around day 400) there are no more new pengulls coming in Winter. Is a max number of nesting grounds reached? Also in the already existings nesting grounds no more pengulls are breading in winter. Is this normal or just a bug in my game? I only have the mapmarkers and glaciers but no more pengulls. I miss them :(

I see that problem too. I do not really miss them, because they do not give interesting things (the glacier are the interessting thing, and they stay... (too much ^^), but it really looks like a bug. Maybe you can add an entry in the Klei Bug Tracker section.

you're all missing the point of why they don't disappear.  In original Together they did in fact disappear and we all ran into the problem of there was NEVER any ice for anything.  That is why they are now perpetual.  Ever notice that in Together they don't give a rock like they do in single player?  If you have problems with pengul spawns messing up your base in winter there is a simple solution, don't base near the coast.  Its a bad idea anyway on account that if you're too close to the coast nightmare hands spawn in the ocean and you can despawn them without letting them get your fire.

They can still spawn their nesting area pretty far away from the coast if someone walks around at the coast and it's not like one can prevent other players from doing that on a public server.
In my opinion a solution for this might be making naturally spawned glaciers more common, maybe in all parts of the world with set pieces, and making glaciers spawned by pengulls disappear when mined.
