A question on skins (how to give them to others)

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have noticed a curious trend on the forums. So many threads about skins. All nice, but even this miraculous abundance does not answer my simple question: how do you give skins to others?

Before the mighty skinologists have my sorry hide with fire darts or whatever. I am not against skins. But as a lot of people regularly ask me to host, I drown in skins while using like two for the whole body and two for feet. I do not really have a need for them. I very much prefer obtaining the walrus beret off the cooling corpse of that pesky McTusk who has been hunting me for weeks (apologies for the graphic parallel) than idling for one thousand and one polo shirts.

It is actually weird how underdeveloped stealth is in DST as of now. It would add a lot if you could actually sneak in and pilfer small objects instead of kiting and running away. But I digress.

I thought giving my duplicates (and not only) away would be easiest thing ever. Sadly I have to be intellectually-challenged (I would not be that surprised, really). I simply cannot find a way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Imagine the possibilities from normal gifts between friends to awards for being the best nanny for new players. If so many want skins, there has to be a way to give them away. I would be most grateful for blonde-proof instructions. Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Arlesienne

You can trade or give away skins by using the Steam trade system.

Thanks a lot. The question is how to give them without demanding anything back. The whole point of a gift. I can give games through the system, but a similar option for DST skins has so far eluded me.

Go to a persons profile and click the "Make trade offer" button, just offer the person all your skins and don't select anything in their inventory in return. Steam will even pop a message saying something like "You didn't select anything in the other players inventory for trade, are you sure you want to proceed?" *Yes, this is a gift* *Cancel*

This, Sir or Madam, is a lifesaver. Chapeau bas.

Oh, yes if you or the one you are trying to give the skins does not have Steam Mobile Authentificator (The Steam app) the trade will be held for 15 days.

If the person giving the skins for free has the mobile authenticator and the recipient does not, the trade won't be placed on hold.

If he DOES offer something else in return, then the trade will be held.

Thank you both. I suppose this answers pretty much all my questions :).
