A small suggestion for bearger

Recommended Posts

So a while ago there was a thread suggesting that bearger should hibernate in a cave during winter. I think the two main problems with this were that bearger was only supposed to stay during autumn and that there were multiple cave systems so that either there would be a bearger in every cave or players would have to search in all caves if they wanted to find him.

In DST, bearger actually stays during the entire year and hibernates. There is also only one cave system. Animals usually hibernate in places that are protected from cold such as caves, so it always confused me that he just sleeps on the surface. I think maybe when winter starts, bearger could dig down and disappear and then appear in the caves and sleep. There could be a bearger nest that spawns during world generation where he hibernates every year because if he would spawn in a random place he could spawn in the base of some unlucky players. (I'm actually not sure if bearger stays in summer or if he despawns and returns in autumn) When summer starts, he could come out of the ground again in the area where he dug down and wander around the map again. If bearger is killed in autumn he wouldn't be found hibernating.

I am fully in favor of this.

I love how DST made all the giants more natural, as if they're just the strongest predetor in their respective seasons despite existing all year round, and need to survive on their own as well(except for deerclops who's MAGICCCCCC).

It would also make for a fun expedition haha. Imagine spelunking, finding a place with unique turf structure and some undestroyable fur left on the ground, and coming back to there in a later season to attack a hibernating bearger.
