Rundown Settings

Recommended Posts

Hello @WishIHadAFridge. I have NVIDIA and through my NVIDIA GeForce Experience program which allows me to optimize my game settings to the best possible configuration in terms of either quality or performance, I can find the following snippets of information about the other stuff in the Settings menu:

  • Bloom - Brightens lighting effects, and adds stylistic glow around camp fires and other brightly lit objects.
  • Distortion - Enables a range of visual effects that highlight your character's current sanity.
  • Small Textures - Reduces the quality of textures to improve performance.

Other options in the Settings menu can't be adjusted by NVIDIA GeForce Experience but based on previous posts I've seen but can't link to cause I can't seem to find them anymore, I believe the other configurable option is as follows:

  • Netbook Mode - reduces the demands that the game needs to run, thereby allowing netbooks to be able to run the game hence netbook mode.

Everything else in the Settings options seem self-explanatory (Music, Ambient, Display, Fullscreen, Resolution, etc.) If you still need some more explanation, I hope someone with better know how drop by and share any other information you may need and if necessary correct any misinformation I may have shared above.

I hope that helps, cheers.

Bloom - Visual effects, most notably on gold nuggets

Distortion - Insanity Wobbles

Screen shake - e.g. Gunpowder, Giant assault

Fullscreen, Display, Resolution - How to handle big-screen mode (not actual fullscreen, thankfully)

Refresh rate - Frames per second

Small textures, netbook mode - Uninteresting to normal PC users

HUD size - Inventory bar, clock, crafting menu, etc.

Vibration - controller only

Anonymous Data - Hacker collective Also known as "Metrics", this is an analysis on your game behaviour and helps balance the mechanics, but also resolve bugs and crashes. Some people are paranoid about unauthorized password theft or something along those lines.

Damn, Zillvr beat me to it!
