TheH1313
Before about fifteen minutes ago, the earliest I've had Palm Guards get up was day 10. I happily started a new round, went through the motions of the early couple days, found a second island(By this time it was day 4, my FIRST Axe was at 25%), went to chop a tree down for wood for the night(Mid Morning) and BOOM, up get three Guards. They have ruined multiple worlds(Day 10, Day 42, Day 52, and almost Day 4) for me, thankfully, I was able to get away this time by flat not engaging and running for the boat. The rate at which these guys spawn is WAY to frequent. How are you supposed to do 750 damage three times in a row ON DAY 4, especially when their melee attack does not miss no matter how far you run away? What am I doing that this is happening so frequently(Besides needing logs to survive)? Have others(you) encountered these beasts this frequently? PanAzej
I haven't encountered them in game yet, so I spawned them and attacked three at once to test if they're so hard like people make them out to be. Conclusion? They're easy... The way to kite a Palm Treeguard is - run away, so it reaches for his coconuts (innuendos, nyeheh). Then run in and hit it 4 times. Avoiding coconuts is easy, they cast a shadow for a long time before they actually fall. I used Spear + Log Suit on Wilson. Log Suit was at about 50% when I finished the fight. grekon
If you can't beat them, make peace with them (plant those seeds like madman). Obviously you can get logs from jungle trees so do that? Also they are a better source of wood. At stage 3 palm trees only give you 2 logs. lissyzak
Set them on fire! I'm usually lucky enough to find a fire staff, but fire darts work too. Once they're on fire they just stand there and freak out for a bit. Downside is you won't get any loot. YsaNoire
There's something weird about the palm guards spawn rate. I haven't spawned a single one. I don't cut down too many palms, I get my wood from jungle trees, but I do need palm leaves for some stuff, so every now and then I will chop a few. Not a single palm guard, I swear, with ONE exception: a vulcanic rock hit a beach ONCE and it spawned THREE of them. My longest playthrough was 2 years. PhelsarusBeel
I've only seen a single group of them (3 guys at once) and tbh they are kind of a pushover compared to the basic ones. They have a lot more delay between swings/throws what means you can easily whack their ankles a couple of times between each hit and even the 750 HP isn't really that much when you consider that the basic ones start at 1400 and go up to 2500 HP. And even then it took me 4 playthroughs each at least going up till day 40 until i finally seen 1 because of how rare their spawnrate seems to be for me. And as said above the best way to kill them is to bait the Coconutthrow go in whack their ankles 4 times and then back of so they throw some more. Really the only real problem with fighting them is their Insanityaura cause after fighting 3 you basicly got thrash sanity and should quickly get some items to heal it up asap.
