So I guess I just wasted a lot of peoples' time for nothing; please forgive me. : / I am still so very appreciative of all the help that has been provided, and at least have a slightly better understanding of the format (though the syntax still confuses me, lol). Technically, you can still use older version of the mod if you still have it saved somewhere. Just remove its ServerModSetup("394470072") from dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua so it doesn't get updated, copy the same version in the server's mod folder as well as all clients' (clients might have to unsubscribe from it as well). Well, mine updated from Steam unfortunately when I was firing up the server, so I no longer have it. I can probably get the old (read: non-erased) version from my fiance, though. So I'll go ahead and try that, as she really enjoys the extra set pieces. Makes things a lot more exciting w/ the absence of Adventure Mode and all while we wait for Through the Ages. Thank you for the heads up. leonseye
Aaaand it works! Thank you @Muche for the working modoverrides.lua and the tip for keeping Additional Set Pieces working even after its retirement, my fiance says to give you a big smooch. ...but I'll refrain. And also to @PeterA, @Kzisor, and @KitcheVadimas for your help and patience. You guys warm my cold, stony heart. <3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/63074-configuring-additional-set-pieces-on-dedicated-server/page/2/#findComment-712803 Share on other sites

Thanks for working it out. Actually read the rest of the topic's posts.... Darn. I thought you figured out how to configure ASP through modoverrides.lua. Sorry. Haha, well, @Muche fixed my shoddy work for me (thank you so much, there's a reason I became an animation major instead of programming...) and posted it on the previous page, at the bottom. You can download that and rename it to modoverrides.lua and you should be good to go, just edit the values that you want. : ) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/63074-configuring-additional-set-pieces-on-dedicated-server/page/2/#findComment-712808 Share on other sites

That's why I didn't offer to send him my saved copy, just explained how one can privately use a mod that isn't on steam workshop (and how mods were used before steam workshop). BTW, your removed Welcome message mod is/was clearly useful as it's still used by 3 dedicated servers and people ask about similar functionality in http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/62142-help-welcome-mod/. That particular mod stopped working when they released Caves. I never took the time to fix it before, so I simply hid it. I took a look at it today and it looks like a simply fix so I will see about getting it updated. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, but I only play this game w/ my fiance and 2 other friends. It's not as though I'm spreading your mod around; it's just being utilized for personal use, as my fiance really loves this particular mod and doesn't enjoy playing the game nearly as much w/out it. She says the world feels empty. I'm sorry if my usage of your mod has upset you somehow. I never even imagined that would be the case. If it's really that big of a deal, I guess we will all just find a different game to play instead. Sorry. : / Edited January 23, 2016 by leonseye Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/63074-configuring-additional-set-pieces-on-dedicated-server/page/2/#findComment-713130 Share on other sites

Sorry. *I* didn't personally figure anything out, it was the wonderful people in this thread who really did all of the work. I just mostly bumbled my way around trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. The config does work now through the modoverrides.lua, but I don't think @Kzisor wants anyone using it any more, so we are just going to put DST away for now. We were all pretty ecstatic that we could finally play w/ it on a Caves server, but this whole affair has kinda left a bad taste. I meant no disrespect to the mod author or anyone else. We were just trying to play a game and ASP helped to make it a lot more fun for everyone. Sorry again. : / Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/63074-configuring-additional-set-pieces-on-dedicated-server/page/2/#findComment-713139 Share on other sites

I do not condone or allow the uploading of the mod back onto the workshop by anyone who may still have the mod somewhere. I've ran into issues in the past with some of the mods which I've uploaded being uploaded by other people and it's disheartening to see people take credit for things you spent months to create. Um, I'm not sure what has happened in the past, but it seems like it was pretty crappy. We just wanted to play the game w/ your mod on a Caves server, as we had stopped playing DST until Caves were out of beta, but had used your ASP mod quite a bit in the past before the Caves beta came out. I already shut down the server and 2 of my friends already uninstalled the game. I wasn't asking anything from you, and I most certainly was NEVER planning to upload anything or take credit for anyone's work. Even in this thread, I think I've made it very clear to give credit where it's due. I apologized and I sincerely meant no disrespect to your wishes. I'm not sure what else you want from me. Even in this thread, I think I've made it very clear to give credit where it's due. Originally I was speaking to Muche; which is why I quoted them. I replied to you in response to your concerns and simply stated why I said what I said. I never stated anyone personally disrespected me. I simply stated that I wished people would respect the mod creators when they make a decision on something they've created. The principal of the matter as it stands is I removed the mod from the workshop; I did it because I don't want people coming back to me asking me to fix something I have clearly retired. The matter of you and your friends I clearly stated that it was fine to use the mod as long as you understood that I would not be supporting the mod in the future. Honestly this is a trivial matter and to leave a game over it seems a little wrong in my opinion. However, it is your choice whether you want to continue playing the game or whether it is time to move on. I hope you find enjoyment in whatever decision you make. Technically, the not-required-support-by-modder is stated in the Modding Guidelines, but most people haven't read that and many would still ask why is it not working for them even though it would clearly state that the mod is no longer supported. The downside of removal is that future modders can't learn from your high quality code.
