mksu
I tried surrounding my (small) base with Sandbags before the Monsoon season came and still the puddles that appeared outside managed to get in my base. How is this supposed to work? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62779-do-sandbags-work/ Share on other sites
rezecib
I'm actually curious because I've never done the surround-my-base method, but I suspect that it does actually prevent the puddles from "entering", in that no puddle center tile can propagate across, but because the puddles are much larger than their center tiles, it looks like they seep under a bit. However, regardless of whether they intended this or not, it seems the most effective way to sandbag is just place sandbags directly in the center of puddles as they form. They can definitely leak in, I have a useless Science Machine and Alchemy Engine because of that. It just sucks because I spent so much time cutting bamboo -.- I guess next time I'll try placing them directly on top, but that doesn't make much sense to me, oh well. rezecib
Yeah, bamboo is pretty annoying. It would be cool if you could hire pigs to cut bamboo for you like you can cut down trees. Rellimarual
If you put the sandbag in the dead center do the puddle (center tile), it will not expand any further. But it CAN still spawn mosquitos so if it's near your base, you should cover every tile if the puddle to avoid bugs. SenhorLevi00
Also, the puddles can attach with each other even if you put the sandbag on the certer of it making it a bigger puddle and spreading even more. Another away to use the sandbags is to put it in the boarders of the puddles to decrease its size Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62779-do-sandbags-work/#findComment-711020 Share on other sites
Machine Reaper
in all this I recommend to make your base in a clean area where you can see where puddles will form, prepare upto 40 sandbags before monsoon and when it starts to rain, place all the sandbags on the nearest puddles to your base(Sometime they will spawn right inside your base and structures so you will have to destroy those structures in order to remove the puddles) and then you will have a clean puddle free base, in my case I had destroy upto 4 chests and alchemy engine cause one puddle spawned right under it...Also don't waste sandbags inorder to block puddles, it won't work and will be a waste instead just use them like a sponge... Rellimarual
Or you can just spend Monsoon season exploring, if you don't want to break down all that stuff. When the dry season starts, it'll be functional again.
