How do you recruit a huge spider army with Webber?

I've only ever recruited a maximum of 6 or 7.  How much monster meat do you use?  How do you get them all at once?  I've scoured wiki, forums and walkthroughs and everyone uses terms like "huge spider army" and "thousands of spiders" but they never actually explain how to do it.

Also, I played DST today and my 'small' spider army attacked my coop partner.  These were spiders I had fed and recruited so I don't understand why they attacked my partner.  Can you make it so they....DON'T attack your coop partner?

For making a larger army, you need more recruits and more pay (merchenary 101).

You can use a spider hat (the shell of a long-dead spider queen) to blend in with the spiders and not get attacked unless attacking first.

I'm playing with WEBBER.  Which means I DO blend in with the spiders.  I just need to find a way to pack them together so I can recruit more of them with less monster meat and I don't really know how to do that.  Getting them to attack eachother doesn't work because they just keep ripping on eachother until they're all dead no matter how much I feed them.

I'm sorry, "you" wasn't the most appropiate choice of words. I meant "your friend".

I see your point.  Still, my friend shouldn't have to wear a spider hat if the spiders have been recruited by me.  That's just my opinion.

With regards to recruiting spiders, here's what the Don't Starve wiki page says about Webber:

" Webber can amass a very large following by only feeding a few spiders. "

http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Webber

How do you 'amass a large following by feeding only a few spiders'?  How do you do that?  How is that possible?  What's the trick to getting alot of spiders with only a few monster meat?  What's the technique?  Most forums that I've found claim this is how Webber players do it, but nobody says how.  I've tried many different ways and as I said, I usually shell out 1 monster meat per 2 or 3 spiders.  That's like a 60/40 ratio.  That's more than a 'few' monster meat.  I must be doing something wrong?

Feeding one spider will befriend every spider within a certain radius. Find a huge group of spider and you can recruit them all by feeding just one. That's how it works in singleplayer DS, don't know about DST.

This is a lot easier to do if the place the spider dens within the same screenspace.

This is exactly how you do it in DST as well.

Just find a big group of them and feed one, then keep doing that and you have a huge army,
