Gabriel11111
Sanity drain is too big every time i enter a sea to sail i get hit by a wave and i lose a lot of sanity, by time i get to my next island i have all my food wet and my sanity at 60 not to mention eating wet food is draining sanity too. The devs could just decrease the sanity drain by a little at least Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62165-sanity-drain-is-too-big/ Share on other sites
Urfable
You can also avoid the waves. Even without a sail, it's easy to avoid. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62165-sanity-drain-is-too-big/#findComment-707204 Share on other sites

WillPwn4Food
I think it keeps things interesting. It's pretty difficult to spend a lot of time sailing without hitting at least a few waves. You have a trade-off of wasting time and resources making a fire, or continuing with the sanity drop and faster spoilage. I think it's fine how it is. Eating wet food does not drain sanity. The only sanity draining items are spoiled (red), and specific food types like raw meats, monster meat, and certain mushrooms. VeryDead
The sanity drain is caused from wetness, which when it exceeds around 35, can cause your equipment to become "wet", which will further decrease your sanity. In order to minimize sanity loss from being wet, I can offer a few tips. Starters, when hitting waves, you can either get a speed boost, or take a bit of damage and gain some wetness. In order to avoid the latter, you want to hit the wave in the same direction it's going in. Of course, this won't help if you're going in the opposite direction that the waves are, which is quite tricky in its own regard. Even worse if it's night. If you do get wet, to make sure you lose as little sanity as possible, take these things into account. 1. If you have any hand or head equipment on that is wet, even if it's a garland or sanity restoring hat, remove them. They'll only further drain your sanity when soaked. Also consider prototyping a Piggyback or attempt to get a Krampus Sack, both of which are waterproof and also keep their contents dry. 2. If it's not raining, when you land on an island, consider building a fire or lighting something on fire in order to help dry you off and keep your temperature high. If you find yourself in a pinch without the resources for a fire or anything to burn, try ctrl dropping (ctrl dropping only drops 1 item of a stack) 1 grass/twig on the ground and lighting that up. 3. If it is raining, building a fire will keep your temperature up, but won't make you dry off unless you have 100% wetness protection, which is granted from certain items. Anywho, that's what I can give you, if you want more details on what can help keep you dry, feel free to ask! pain88head
This may be a little unbalanced... I had problems with sanity playing Willow quite often. In comparison to the original game or Reign of Giants it may be too easy to get drained :/ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/62165-sanity-drain-is-too-big/#findComment-707473 Share on other sites
PhelsarusBeel
You do know that you don't have to collide with waves while sailing. Seriously even then Wetness is really not a big concern for me since there are a few easy ways to get it back up. From easy stuff like Taffy, a Piratehat (it's a lot cheaper then a tophat) or just Jerky you also can use cooked Green Shrooms to restore it and i always find at least a few of those and they solve most of my Sanity problems and because of the very common rain they respawn really quickly. Heck if all else fails you can easily restore Sanity by sleeping through a couple of Nights since food atm is a noneissue in Shipwrecked so you can easily negate the hungerloss from sleeping by eating a bunch of Seaweed or some Jellyfish.
