[Bug] Idle hail causes damage

Recommended Posts

I was running around during hurricane season, more than likely just collecting stuff because there was nothing to do, and I realized that walking into a piece of hail sitting idly on the ground damaged me. I confirmed later that I was, in fact, just losing health by picking up chunks of hail scattered around my base.

Is anyone else getting this problem?

hail is quite buggy, instakilling walls, damaging players, yeah... probally hail is the cause of death of the people that reported the 'random instadeath" bug around day 20~30

I was actually one of the people that reported that bug, heh. I think the biggest problem with hail is that the "bouncing" mechanic is too floaty. If one piece of hail is smushed up against, say, a wall and a science machine, that wall is basically done for. Same applies to people holding certain items (like umbrellas). A hit that should have taken off 4 HP instead takes off about 15.

This has happened to me twice and I just realized it was hailing both times I randomly died. I went from 76 health to 57 in about 3 seconds during hailstorm for no reason. I play with a controller I wonder if that has any bearing on it? There seems to be some major issues with controllers.  Either way glad there's been some clarification on this and i hope it's fixed soon.

I'm not sure why, but I honestly don't get this issue. I went an entire Hurricane Season without being damaged by any Hail, and I collected like 200 pieces to fill up my Ice Box as filler food. It never destroyed any of my structures (although I never build walls so that helps me out). I never get any of these symptoms and it's interesting seeing the video posted here to see what others are experiencing. It looks much worse than the normal season I get (which is occasionally being hit in the head when I unequip my umbrella).

It's definitely not controller based, because I play with a controller myself. The only issue with the controller I've had involves dumb trawl nets and it's not even a huge issue.
