Are palmtreeguards supposed to act like that?

Recommended Posts

I just ot attacked by 3 palmtreeguards, i watched them try to kill me and some monkeys/spiders/snakes went killing themselves. Now, they stand still, and do nothing, except if there's something alive that comes too close of them, except me...Cool, i have bodyguards now. Respect the dapper spider.

Regular treeguards can either be appeased by planting pinecones near them, or distracted by something else attacking them, after which they become neutral and will only attack things (including players) that attack them first or chop/knock down a tree within sight of the treeguard. This makes them very handy to have around when hounds or giants attack. Palm treeguards are probably supposed to act similarly, but planting coconuts doesn't seem to do anything right now. They do forget about you if attacked by something else, though.

I experienced the same thing. They look so weird, that I think it is probably a bug. (Like rock lobsters gets stuck if they are fed when they are hiding in their shells.)

And palm tree guards' melee attacks seem to have an extremely long range that you cannot dodge it.

Yeah, neutral treeguards in the base game at least wander around and go to sleep at night. Neutral palmtreeguards just seem to stand in the same spot forever and only move if something attacks them. Maybe they're unfinished?

	-- Get away from other treeguards	RunAway(self.inst, "treeguard", 5, 10),	-- Destroy walls in the way	AttackWall(self.inst),	-- Obliterate enemy if there's a target	ChaseAndAttack(self.inst),	-- Do nothing	StandStill(self.inst),

This is the Palm Treeguard brain (SW).

	-- Destroy walls in the way	AttackWall(self.inst),	-- Obliterate enemy if there's a target	ChaseAndAttack(self.inst),	-- Wander around	Wander(self.inst),

This is the Pine Treeguard brain (Vanilla).

They seem to do a poor job of getting away from other treeguards :/

Because, as I said in another thread, they don't have the "treeguard" tag.

So they technically run away from treeguard tag wielders, because there is none to run away from.
