UnionGaming Posted July 16, 2015 Share Posted July 16, 2015 My idea was on worldgen to have an option to spawn cave LANDMASSES, shrouded in darkness. The sinkhole rocks could simply be wormhole thingies to these landmasses, with the default amount being 3 caves, and being the size of them, sure it may increase lag more than multiple worlds, but it's a lot more simple in my eyes. It could be done using a portion of Woodie's night vision as normal daytime vision, when the world is actually 100% dark at all times, and the "night vision" turns off on cave turfs. It will not be treated as night vision, just an easier, albeit temporary, solution. Also! The Ancient Guardian should respawn and Houndius Shootius being able to target selected players. My idea for the ruins was to make it seperate from the server, as a single player challenge (lag in ruins = nope) and ruins is meant to be challenging, having a team in there hugely reduces the difficulty, as far as I see. Therefore when the ruins is exited,it can simply spawn you back at the co-ordinates of the ruins entrance, when using the ruins exit, it connects, something like set position = ruins co-ords. It certainly will encourage teamwork in caves, and giving players gear to use in the ruins is a whole new teamwork aspect. How the gear will carry over to the "single player" ruins may have to mean it is connected,in some way, to this server, even if inventories were just stored as a server file, which it can access, without lag. Once loaded this file should not need to be loaded again, and updates itself on rejoining with ruins loot. Although, this hugely increases the amount of hacking possible with the inventory stuff, but that's just my tuppence on this. if anyone would like to add to this, please do! If you die maybe it should transport your ghost out of the cave and prevent re-entering as it... making all that stuff hauntable, and with almost all negative effects, I guess, is pretty hard. 3 caves is a bare minimum if I was going off 8 players, and normal landmasses should be larger (yay lag) DISCLAIMER: This is probably impossible and I don't know %#$! on how the ruins part could work, but the caves idea is certainly possible, almost easy, other than the darkness effect. Here's hoping the devs see this! It could even be that cave turf spawns darkness above it? (does that work? i don't know) as a different type of darkness to avoid file conflicts. TL;DR remake caves and spawn them as landmasses, with ruins seperate, no ghosts, humans only, support ghostism.
