ThePurplePanda Posted June 25, 2015 Share Posted June 25, 2015 Hi everyone, (sorry for my bad english, feel free to correct me) I may not be on the good place to post this but I experienced yesterday a quite frustrating "feature", if I may call it that way. My friends and I were been chase by Hounds (three of them to be precise). I was far away of our camp and I decided to jump into the near Worm Hole. That was kind of stupid : when you jump into a Worm Hole, you have a small animation, like half a second, maybe less... But durign that small animation, hounds already got on me, and they started to bite me. It canceled the jump animation and i wasn't able to escape through the Hole. And I died. Is this a bug ? It's normal, it's been in the game since single-player.You can jump into a wormhole while being chased by hounds but make sure you have enough of a lead to make up for the jumping animation. What you can do is camp near the wormhole when you know that hounds are approaching and when you hear them running towards you, jump into the worm hole. Of course, it would be better to take care of them rather than run away. What you can do is equip your armor (grass suit but preferably, I'd recommend a log suit. You need a science machine to craft it: 2 rope and 8 logs) and your weapon and when you see a hound, charge it and dispatch it quickly, do this for the succeeding hounds. If you have friends playing with you, take out the hounds chasing them as their attention will be away from you. Do this too with hounds chasing you. There are a lot more ways to handle hounds. But yeah, wormhole and jumping: don't jump in when they're right behind you. Go somewhere else like a beefalo herd or pigs, they should take care of the hounds for you. My friends and I have been lucky, we found a place near a large group of Beefallos, probably twelve at the same spot. We often use them to take care of the hounds for us. But I was really far away and completely unstuff, that's why i tried this... I will never do that again, for sure ! Thank you ! Bahlsen Posted June 25, 2015 Share Posted June 25, 2015 It's funny to see skeletons on worm holes, there is no need to examine to guess how the player died. I wouldn't recommend fleeing because the remaining hounds could hurt an another unaware player. grass suit I don't know why I forgot about this so thanks for improving my early game. Exploring takes me always 10-12 days so it's too early for my beloved football helmet and I don't want to spend 8 logs for two hounds only so I always lose a good amount of health because latency prevents me from kiting them correctly or sometimes both hounds attack me at the same time. So grass suit is going to be a good compromise especially if I didn't find a tentacle spike before. I was killed by a hound in that way even in the vanilla version, in together is worst because you have a little delay (depending of your connection) making impossible escape through a wormhole with fast creatures, I still waiting for a smoke bomb item for quick escapes.
