toomanynights
Hi! You know, when I see the islands separated this way, I'm getting as mad as everybody else - which means "a lot". Seriously, I have to spend some days running through the whole map instead of just hopping or even stepping over? If only there could be a mod which would allow to build bridges... Not very complicated. For start, I wouldn't ask even for a lifting mechanics etc - just the thing that would allow to walk through those goddarn tiny abysses... I've gathered some information about this. For me, 'Jesus bug' gives some hope. It's described here, and it shows that 'walking on water' is theoretically possible. So the only thing left is to get an ability to put some wood texture above some part of water.Perhaps I'm thinking wrong way? Another method that I can see is to make something like this, but with textures of a boat and a pier. So you can come close to it, push the button "sail to the other side", fade out, here you are on the opposite shore. Unfortunately, I know nothing about coding and can't make such a mod myself. But I have some ideas and ready to test the mod out the most accurate way. Any hopes, kind fellows? polygone
There's a mod that lets you jump. You could also kill a Dragonfly and make a Lazy Explorer, you'd need the craftable ancient altar mod for that though/spawn an ancient altar in. Water is only unwalkable where it touches land, that's why you can walk on water. Isosurface
build bridges... Not very complicated Transforming sea to walkable solid ground is not that straight forward. I cannot find a mod utility that reshape the world's boundary on the fly as I change the terrain type from an impassable one to a passable one. Reloading the entire game is the only way I know to reshape the world boundary (GLOBAL.GROUND.LIMIT). The Devs would have to add a new mod function (e.g. ReshapeGroundLimit or something) to make all these possible. Pyr0mrcow
Rather than changing the border, have the person pass over the bridge by interracting, rather than walking? Temporarily ignore collisions, have the character go along a preset path, and then return control to the player when they're on the other side, restoring collisions.I wouldn't really know where to start, but that at least seems more viable than reshaping things. Bridge size would be odd, though. We'd have to limit it to a small size, or have multiple craftable bridges of varying sizes, or...have them attatchable to eachother, perhaps? That'd be the ideal solution, but maybe more complicated, with the pathing action.I think there'd at least have to be 2 types, for different orientations. Unless there's some way of waiting until placement to assign what piece is created. Isosurface
Temporarily ignore collisions, have the character go along a preset path, and then return control to the player when they're on the other side, restoring collisions. This is pretty much what I did with my mod. I agree that AI-controlling a player to move along a pre-defined path is a good alternative to allowing free roaming. Another possible solution is adding swimming animation and remove edge collision detection for characters. But the simplest solution is still teleporting. toomanynights
Hello kinds fellows! Thanks for your answers! There's a mod that lets you jump. yeah, I noticed that mod a few days ago and I'm still excited. But ot allows to jump over only 1 ... let's call it "meter", so sadly it's not suitable for this purpose. Rather than changing the border, have the person pass over the bridge by interracting, rather than walking? Yeah, that was one of my ideas! Instead of crafting bridge, one would have to craft 2 quays with tiny boats besides. Craft it, build it near the sea, build another one on the other side. Then come to one of quays, push the putton and appear on the other side, just like using wormhole! Like in this mod, but with other textures. This is pretty much what I did with my mod. Which one is that? Did you make the "quays&boats" mod already? You don't have to implement it as a literal bridge and bother with transforming sea to walkable ground. Just build two mini-portals on either end. You go in one end and come out the other. The concept already exists in the form of worm holes. This would just be something craftable and placeable. That's exactly what I mean when I suggest to make it as quays on sides of the river This doesn't look to complicated, but it would be reeeeeally helpful! Anyone wants to make this happen? Guys?
