Enchanter
Well, I was hunting for the Spider Queen and a Treeguard at the same time for an epic fight, but...I couldn't find either!Monster Effigies are simple:Statue of monsters that will spawn a monster corresponding to its statue when a special ritual is done! Here's a (Not so) brief list of the ones I have thought of:Hound EffigyCrafting Recipe: 1 Board, 2 Hounds Teeth, 1 Monster MeatSummons: One houndRitual: Drop 1 meat, morsel, drumstick, or monster meat on the ground near the Effigy.Extra Info: 25% chance to spawn a Fire Hound instead. Summoned Fire Hounds will not drop a Red Gem.Spider EffigyCrafting Recipe: 1 Board, 1 Silk, 1 Monster MeatSummons: One SpiderRitual: Attack the EffigyExtra Info: 25% chance to spawn a Spider Warrior.Bunny Torture DollCrafting Recipe: 1 Board, 1 Live BunnySummons: One KrampusRitual: Drop the doll on the ground and BURN it!Extra Info: Krampus will spawn like normal and run towards you, NOT out of the doll.Werepig EffigyCrafting Recipe: 1 Board, 2 Meat, 1 Pig SkinSummons: One WerepigRitual: Build the Effigy, then wait for a full moonExtra Info: NoneBee EffigyCrafting Recipe: 1 Log, 1 Stinger, 1 HoneySummons: One BeeRitual: Build the Effigy and wait 5 seconds. The bee will "hatch" out of the Effigy within that timeframeExtra Info: 25% chance to spawn a Killer Bee.Beefalo Effigy!Crafting Recipe: 3 Boards, 3 Beefalo Hair, 6 Meat, 3 ManureSummons: One Beefalo! Ritual: Place a Razor infront of the EffigyExtra Info: When the ritual is performed, the Beefalo will burst out of the Effigy and run away, frightened, of the razor. Also, Effigy is HUGE!Tallbird EffigyCrafting Recipe: 2 Boards, 2 MeatSummons: One TallbirdRitual: Build the Effigy and stand near it for a few seconds.Extra Info: Summoned Tallbirds do not lay eggs. Now for the FUN stuff!Artificial TreeCrafting Recipe: 1 Board, 8 Logs, 1 MeatSummons: One TreeguardRitual: Build the Artificial Tree and BURN it (Or just chop it down...)!Extra Info: 33% chance to spawn a Small treeguard, 33% chance to spawn a Medium treeguard, 34% chance to spawn a Large treeguardQueen EffigyCrafting Recipe: 3 Boards, 4 Monster Meat, 4 Silk, 1 Spider EggsSummons: One Spider QueenRitual: Attack the EffigyExtra Info: NoneDemon BaitCrafting Recipe: 3 Cooked Mandrakes, 5 AmuletsSummons: 6 of EVERY hostile monsterRitual: Craft and drop it on the ground.Extra Info: Maxwell appears next to the demon bait, realizes that it isn't actual demon food, then summons all the things that kill you. The monsters appear periodically, starting from 6 of the easiest monsters working its way up to 6 Spider Queens and Treeguards.Maybe the last one was a bit much, though I would use it! Flash Hazardous
I think the Demon Bait would be one epic way to commit sacrificial suicide! I could just imagine the WEEKS of in-game preparation that would go into preparing for an encounter of this magnitude! Preparing log suits, fire darts and spears... strategically laying traps... tactically walking through what you would be doing. I love the idea but with one caveat: None of the summoned monsters should drop anything or contribute to the game world in any sort of way (ie: bee shouldn't make honey, beefalo shouldn't drop manure, pig shouldn't drop meat or pigskin, Krampus shouldn't drop his sack) and should disappear after a day or two. This would prevent any unfavourable exploits being created (ie: beefalo manure farms and multiple bee boxes through farming bees this way). I could imagine Demon Bait being an endgame event: Defeat each wave of enemies within a reasonable time frame... or die trying. This idea has great potential but shouldn't really ever materialize if the devs make their game as intended. I would hope that, post release, I will never be in a position to want to SUMMON monsters in the endgame... as this would mean I have not only survived but prospered to the point where I feel comfortable enough to put myself into dangerous situations just to keep the game interesting... this is kind of where the current endgame is at.I still like the option of having it there... with an associated in-game challenge to achieve (not crappy steam achievements) by baiting a demon and surviving Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/5256-monster-effigies-and-summonings/#findComment-41743 Share on other sites

Lord_Dragonis
I honestly don't see the apeal of summoning these monsters if all you get is less mats than what it takes to summon them and they dont stick around. the only use i could see for monsters you could summon would be a temporary ally in battle. but thats just my opinion.
