Alkaiser
So, I thought I'd ask everyone to share some of the horrible things they've had happen to them in the game. More likely than not, in Adventure Mode. Like for me, I was on Day 24 in King of Winter playing as Wendy... It had been a rough ride. Multiple near death experiences, one fully realized with a ressurrection from a Touch Stone. Close scrapes with Walruses, Hounds, Deerclops, Tree Guardians, and even my own Boomerang. On Day 22 I finally secured the final piece of the Teleportato. The morning of Day 23 arrived and I was ready to leave this God-forsaken land. I had a Puffy Jacket, Walrus Hat, Walking Cane, and some Gears I wanted to take into the new world. After breakfast, the meal that consumed the final amount of my rations, I set out from my camp with the instruments of my freedom, Abigail happily in tow. I was content to never look back. Upon my arrival to the Clockwork encampment I dispatched what remaining Knights and Bishops remained when suddenly a battallion of Walruses and their hounds descended. I desperately clambered away from the chaos as Abigail fought tooth and nail to secure my escape. I ran as fast as my feet would carry me until I was sure I had outrun them. I pulled up the map to check my location relevant to my old camp and saw Abigail's flower appear on the map. My twin sister died (again) so that I may live to see the world outside this nightmare. I trudged through the late night, my hands shaking with anticipation and disbelief. "NO! I WILL NOT BE BEATEN NOW! I'VE COME TOO FAR!" Steeling my resolve, I found myself back at the camp I had abandoned just as the darkest hour approached. It was only then that I realized I had left my backpack full of my wood, grass, and twigs at the clockwork encampment when I donned my armor to clean out the rest of the fiends alongside Abigail. I feverishly searched the ravaged chests for anything I could use to light the campfire before the darkness overtook me. As luck would have it, there was some small amount of Beefalo Wool and Manure left over that was unable to be processed into something more useful. I was alive...but starving... I couldn't sleep...I needed to stay up through the night to make sure I left early enough to beat the Walrus Battallion back to the Clockwork Encampment before they came to ravage it for more spoils. My stomach was rumbling something awful, though, and I knew I wouldn't make it through the day before the hunger staked its claim on my life as well. At the break of dawn on Day 24, I sprinted full-speed towards my goal. I found the encampment empty; My plan had worked! I just had to quickly assemble the Teleportato, insert my gear into the compartment, and I would finally be free of this Winter Hell. After putting the second piece into the device, I saw them. The Walrus Battallion had returned in full-force and they were descending upon me quickly. As I inserted the Divining Rod into its receptacle, the first shot had already been fired. The Hounds charged and one dart was already deeply embedded in my back. There was no time to get my gear into the travel compartment. I knew it was now or never, life or death, so I made one final sprint for the Teleportato. Ignoring the boot-up phase of the machine, I hit "TRAVEL" immediately and the world froze in time around me as I was given the prompt to travel to the new world. I took a moment to observe my final surroundings; Hounds scraping at the hull of the Teleportato, Walruses firing their blowguns at me in vain. It was clear; stepping back outside was certain death, and I had to abandon my hard-gained gear if I was to survive. I chose life, and ascended to the next world, with nothing to show for it but the memories and the pain that goes with them... applebottom
HAHAHAHA we had the same problem! I was in 4th chapter, King of Winter. I found the wooden thing early on but camped in a different island (I forgot why). I even started a topic here asking for opinion on what stuff to bring, because I had a lot of decent items. Jerky, Silk, Miner's hat, stack of gold, walking cane, grass, twigs, etc. I found the things and prepared to leave. Then I left all my "extra" stuff with Chester in a nice camp so the poor guy won't be homeless in this world, at least. I walked to the wooden thing and got ambushed by That Scottish Bastard and His Dogs. (There were 3 camps. I should've checked the WHOLE area around the wooden thing. Tsk tsk...) I panicked, plonked random stuff into Maxwell's head and left. Which is why my next horror story is..... A bad start in Chapter 5 with a really close ending. 0 hungerNo more foodInsaneChased by 3 terror beaksNot enough grassNot enough twigsOn my last firefly I was lucky to watch a Let's Play recently where the guy was also insane. He ran in a circle to lead the clockworks and terrorbeaks away, place 1 item, run another circle, place the next one, and so on. I did just that. Pausing every circuit to calm down and pray to Jibbers. By some miracle, I made it. But I didn't manage to bring anything to the next chapter. I am now doubly terrified of Chapter 5. I don't think I can do it again. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/50857-dont-starve-horror-stories/#findComment-612340 Share on other sites

applebottom
Sorounded by trees? If yes, that's a special (and deadly) set piece featuring especially agressive walruses. I didn't see the camps on the map. I think they just aggroed on the clockworks and the clocks led the fun to me. applebottom
A transcript of the first Winter with Wigfrid. While collecting logs in a dense forest far away from camp. Wigfrid: I'm carrying all I can! *for some really stupid reason, puts stack of grass inside Chester* Spiders: KRAAAAA!!!Wigfrid: Spider, meet my spear! *right after the battle* Wigfrid: And the curtain falls. *equip 2% torch* Wigfrid: My light is quenched! *build torc-- no grass; build campfi-- no grass; AHA! build firepit* *cannot place firepit anywhere* Charlie: FWOOOSH!Wigfrid: Shöw yöurself! *frantically clicking around for Chester* Charlie: FWOOOSH!Wigfrid: Cöward! Chester: *sitting quietly, saving his own ass* Wigfrid: *remembers a Pig House reaaaaaaaally far away and starts running* Charlie: FWOOSH!Wigfrid: Cöward! *sees two fireflies* Wigfrid: I step intö the light!Wigfrid: And the curtain falls. Wigfrid: I step intö the light!Wigfrid: And the curtain falls. Wigfrid: I step intö the light!Wigfrid: And the curtain falls. TL;DR: The health bonus from killing spiders + 100% battle helm + Wigfrid's OP-ness saved me. This is why I love Wigfrid. PS I did not talk to Chester for days. That bastard.
