A harder gamemod for more challenge

Recommended Posts

Hello, as you know there are endless/survival/wilderness, but it would be great to have more challenge, a harder one. You will really fear the death in this one since it's way more punishing.

(It's really late though and tired, I hope I'll be clear enough, don't hesitate if you didn't get something)

One of these two ideas :

-First idea

There are a total amount of lifes available for everyone (it's for everyone, not only one person, for example if you die, your friends will be in trouble, it results that you care even more of your mates) on the server, each time you die you loose one life for the team.

when does it end :If the total of amount of lifes is 0 and you don't have activated a touchstone(it would be back like in solo, if someone activated it, it will be used for the first one who die... but anyone of the team can trigger it, same for meat effigy/life giving amulet), you loose the game.

When someone die : he's a ghost and must be revived by a friend (sanity loss will still be here)

-Second idea :

The host of the server decides the amount of lives (originally I thought about that it will be same amount as the players playing, but it wouldnt work well..) and each time somebody dies he respawns at the spawn point and the team losses a point , once all life points lost, it's game over (you dont lose a life point if you had some sort of "reviver" like life giving amulet)
Well, they explain it allot better

another explanation of this second idea :

we'll have a pool of lives that the server owner sets. (let's use 6 as an example)

So I'm playing with 2 other friends, and I've died 2 times, so now our group lives are down to 4.

My friend dies 3 times, and then I die once again. Then we're out of lives, and the only means of resurrection are: touchstones, meat effigies and life giving amulets.

Once all of those are gone, the next death that happens makes the game over.
It doesn't mean I'm the only person out, it means that once the server is out of lives, the world is over.

So what do you think about these ideas ?

Yeah it's from Tomer, but people were focusing on his name instead of his ideas(by trolling him, annoying him) , that's why I didn't write his name, I hope the curse won't come here because of that, go away curse .

Idd, the exact term would be more punishing instead of harder as you said.

No I don't like always night time, I want to see stuffs, not a black screen (if you are lucky enough to craft a torch(or a campfire) with the ressources next to the portal, or if there are fireflies to help you gather ressources without dieing in the night, otherwise you die d2)

Or you could try setting game world to: always night time.  That will be a challenge for sure!
now, that's challenging, but way too much on that regard. We're talking about a harder but not super hardocore way to play.

@Odinfrom, nah, it's okay. I don't know where all that hate for him came from. He asks some silly stuff, but every now and then says some really good suggestions(like this one). I just wanted to point out the source for the 2nd one.

I don't see why people don't like this idea, though. It's like a good mix of permadeath with survival without the annoying sanity penaulty and more punishing deaths.

I, at least, don't like it because it's unrecoverable. Any progress you make towards a world reset is completely irreversible. I believe that you should either suddenly die and lose everything because of mistakes on your part (the situation in single-player), or you should be able to work hard to recover from minor mistakes earlier on (the situation in DST). I do think the current situation is pretty lenient, but I don't think that a mechanical change in this direction is a good idea. It will definitely make the game less fun.

@DarkXero, Well, as the very original post said, it's meant to be played with friends, probably in a private server. Kinda like survival, but (IMO) better.

Play Wilderness and ban everybody who dies.
erm, no. That just doesn't work out well.

@rezecib, I guess that's just that's just personal preference. Just like with my arms, I like to know that once I loose a life, it's gone for ever.
