To giant fighters, how do you set your campfire?

At day 304 finally I encounter my first Bear Badger thing and well, for the second time (first being Deerclops), my camp fire is destroyed by the giant.

How do you build it to make it remain safe during giant attacks?

For Deerclops it's OK, I just have to distract him by hitting him.

Here's my "battleground". The hollow space is where the campfire used to be.

I use a lantern. That simple. (you can turn it off)

Catch a bunch of fireflies and release them around your base. That way there is nothing for the giant to destroy, and you still have lighting at night.

I built Pig house and spider dens near my base so I have a support while attacking giants.

I'm not a good cave explorer to be very honest. I died in the ruins twice in my vanilla version, which builts up my paranoia for it. But I'll do it later again.
