Don't Starve Together Frontier Pack gift-able copy?

Hello everyone!

 

I had noticed the Frontier pack had went on sale today. I already own Don't Starve so I was excited to see if I would be able to gift it to a friend of mine who is currently low on the funds then also give him the extra copy of Don't Starve Together. However, I noticed some people stating that you can't give the extra copy of Don't Starve you get. I was just wondering if I could get some confirmation on that. Thank you!

I'm afraid so. I contacted Steam support about the issue but I did lose the copy of Don't Starve.

However the Don't Starve Together Beta you get 2 keys for.

@MMercon, Did you sign up for the beta? If you did you should have your key. But if you didnt you will not get DST for free untill it is officially released. Sometime in spring 2015.

 

Or you can buy in to the beta for $5 on Steam.

Hello! Welcome to the forums! There were some posts people not getting their second key or misplacing it. However, the key should be in your Steam account's Inventory to give to a friend. (The Frontier pack does in fact give 2 DST beta keys. One for you and one for a friend, if it only gives one key, then that is an error. I think most people don't know where to look for it.)

You lost a copy of Don't Starve? Did you already own Don't Starve? If you already own Don't Starve when purchasing the Frontier pack, that means you would of or should have only paid $5.00, you would only receive 2 DST beta keys. The discount is for not having to pay for Don't Starve ($14.99) because you already own it and paid for it.

I also wanted to share the game with a friend.

But if I understand this correctly, if I convince him to buy the game for himself instead, will he get DS along with the 2 beta keys for DST?

@Patchieeeee, Yes, if he buys the frontier pack. He will get DS and DST added to his library. And one copy of DST in his inventory to give away. Provided that he does not already own dont starve.

 

If he do own it. the frontier pack will have just the two DST keys.

@TheDontStarver, Ye, unfortunatley this is due to a steam issue with pricing. the 20 dollar pack contains one copy of DS and two copys of DST. However the DS copy is for your own account and can not be gifted.

 

Since you already own Dont Starve the price should have been $5 for two DST keys, not $20.

Not sure where you saw you would get Don't Starve if you already owned it in the pack. :/

I must've misunderstood the free copy as a DS instead of DST.

I already owned Don't starve, my friend did not own the game. I did not want to wait to be given don't starve together as the steam page states. So I purchased the Don't starve together frontier pack but chose to gift it to my friend, thinking that he would get 2 beta keys for dont starve together. then he could send me back one. That way we both then had don't starve and dont starve together.

 

Well he accepted the gift, but he did not get a 2nd beta key only the 1. He did get a copy of don't starve, and he does have dont starve together beta in his library. Why no 2nd key? he went into his inventory and under gifts and has no 2nd key.

@tinboye, The copy in his library is the second key. He should've gotten DS and DST in his library, and a key in his inventory.

Hi everyone! 

 

I just bought on steam the don't starve MEGAPACK, which includes DS, ROG and 2 copies of DST.

I received an extra key that I gave to a friend of mine (she doesn't own the game).

When we tried to play together, she had only 5 minute to play after that her caracter disappear and she is disconnected. 

So, I think I don't understood correctly how the extra key works. 

If anyone can help me, it would very nice !

When the Frontier Pack is on sale, it means you own DS, you will not get the copy of DS. You will only get the two DST keys for $5.

@nikolas8327, She should still have the game. Maybe there was just a network issue that got her disconnected? She should be able to reconnect.

I wanted to buy the game as a gift for some people (who aren't at the same place as me), but the pack is region-locked for me, which is irritating. Any ways to bypass that?
