Cannot play Together.

I just got my DST beta key today, shared it with a friend and was very excited to play. Installed it fine. my friend was able to log in, however i cannot.

 

after clicking play button, another window opens prompting me to create an account. after i click that button that window closes and brings me to the first window, nothing happens after that.

a browser i supposed to pop up or something, but i get neither the steam browser popping up nor chrome (my default browser)

 

things i have tried :

restarting DST

restarting steam

restarting computer

un-linking then re-linking my steam profile from Klei

continually pressing the Play! and dying inside.

Have you tried clicking "Play Online" again? Or did it not come up with the account creation screen?

Try opening up the steam browser through the steam overlay first.

 

There can also be some Steam overlay problems with windowed mode, so you could also try switching to fullscreen.

 

If you don't have the settings option, this can be done by opening My_Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\Settings.ini and adding these lines of code;

 

fullscreen = true

fullscreen_width = (yourresolution)
fullscreen_height = (yourresolution)

 

If none of these options work, I guess we just wait for something else.

The browser is supposed to pop up in the steam overlay.  Do you have this overlay Shift-Tab toggles this on.

In the next hotfix we will revert to opening the web browser if the steam overlay is disabled.

 

In the meantime you can get into the game by enabling your "Steam Overlay"

I encountered this issue when laucnhing the game though steam in "Big Picture" mode.

Switching Steam to the classic UI and re-launching the game resolved the issue for me.
