You should begin when you think the hounds will only take one more day or so, then it will hatch when they're gone. Also, keep pigs away before it is hatched. Afterwards, feed it seeds on a regular basis. There is a true expert on this subject by the way. I wouldn't inform him of this topic though, due to orians... preferances. EDIT: Sorry, I get it now. You meant eating the mandrake needed for a panflute! Yeah, those buggers are rather useless, especially to good ol' Willhelma.
