Hello everybody,

I love the community on this forum and there are so many cool suggestions and artwork. Because of the great activity of us players it is a little bit confused. So when I wanted to start a new Thread about my ideas for new Creatures and other stuff I decided, to integrate at least some links to the other big Threads about the same topic.

There are some new tribes in addition to the pigman:

Some new plants:

I will update this list and try to keep it actual. If I miss something please tell me immediately.^^

First of all, I keep thinking about additional creatures which would fit in the world of Don't Starve and also serve some purpose. I created a list to record the biomes and the creatures which live there to look where there could be more of them.

The Rocky Biom

Not only I thought of a rockmonster like the Treeguard. It is very important to mine stone so why not adding a little source of terror.

There was the idea of a Rock Golem:

rimg0290i.jpg

But I thought this is too similar to the Treeguard so i think of an Rock Turtle:

Ahh, I keep posting but my internet is real sluggish today....wait a minute. Haven't thought about slugs at all.^^

I will write the text first and add the pictures in time....work in progress

While the idea of a giant stone turtle is interesting, I'm just not sure I want another resource guardian, as that would strike me as being too close to what we already have with the treeguard. Also, to stop the treeguard from coming after you the player can plant pinecones... I don't see a way to mollify the turtle. Will he (slowly) chase you forever?

Maybe this is what makes the stoneturtle differ from the treeguard, same as rhino men and pigmen's differences; Being more aggressive.

Allthough I agree with Mobius, I don't think this HAS to mean another treeguard just with stone. It depends how you design the creature and how you implement it into the game. :)

I'm not allowed to add more than 4 pictures in one post...o_O

Also I want to say that I just want to collect and visualize ideas of mine and of course of you all out there. (for example the locust: I've read this idea in one of the threads on this forum I just wanted to scribble it feel free to discuss^^)

@mobius187

I know it is really similar to a Treeguard. But I don't think of it as a guardian. It doesn't care about you smashing rocks like crazy, just if you hit a rock which isn't a rock at all they became really angry. They will sleep like the golem on the picture above, only the shield, which looks like a rock is overground. It is for the smashing rocks, smashing rocks, smashing rocks tralala Oh ****-kind of feeling...^^

Bats are in my opinion very stylish mobs for night activity. They would sleep at daytime and maybe startled if the player hits a tree. They would feed on insects like fireflies at night and the sound of the flapping leathery wings would add to the nighttime sounds.

rimg0294.jpg

Maybe they spawn arround graves?

Who does not know the cruel Basilisk. A monster that kills with his cursed eyes alone. I like the classic way of drawing him. It could be a monster you are forced to use your pan pipes on because you cannot go near him without being harmed if his eyes are open.

rimg0295kopie.jpg

Beware crops, your archenemy is entering the stage. Don't ask me about the front legs...

They could attacking your crops, bushes and grass. We still have to think about this. Single big ones or swarms?

rimg0296.jpg

Also an idea in this Thread http://forums.kleientertainment.com/showthread.php?4302-Suggestion-quot-The-Rotten-patch-quot

Giant Fly, spawns by and consumes manure. It doesn't attack players it is only a nuisance.

I like the idea of swarms of locusts because it reminds of the biblical plagues that Israel's God, Yahweh, used to punish the Pharaoh for keeping slaves. Maybe a plague of locusts upon your base could be something the Krampus inflicts if you're particularly bad.

But will it eventually stop being angry with you... or would it follow you forever? Also, do they just "sleep" all day/night or do they ever move? Maybe the stone turtle should move around at night and fall asleep at sunrise. So if you accidentally antagonized it then by the next day it will have forgotten you. Also how about a name for it? Boultorse... Stonetorse? Sturtle? My only suggestion is stay aawy from the word "golem". Too mainstream.

Right now... no. Only because fireflies are finite. If bats were included then they should work similar to birds, swooping in and out. I wouldn't want some "hover-flying" bats... because then I would get flashbacks of fighting Dingbats from Final Fantasy. Do not want.

Maybe they spawn arround graves?

Nah, I don't see why they should be localized to graves. Maybe if they add in caverns then bats could spawn around or from the crevasse (opening) at sunset.

Hmmm. I don't know if we really need to add existing mythical creatures to the game. I'll admit, this is a unique way to draw the basilisk... as it reminds me in ways of a cockatrice, but still, I'm a supporter of adding completely new creatures/monsters. The stranger, the better...

I would say, yes and no. I wouldn't mind if a summer (season) event included the random possibility of a locust swarm descending on your crops, and eating your berries and grass. However it might be a bit much to have this happen too often.

Giant Fly, spawns by and consumes manure. It doesn't attack players it is only a nuisance.

Hmmm, I recall another suggestion thread about food rot that included giant flies. How often would these giant flies appear and how much manure would they eat? I can somehow imagine all manure everywhere being eaten up... not good.

Of course it won't chase you forever. I'm totally fine with the night-move and sunrise-sleep thing. This way you can tell that this big boulder next to your chest, which wasn't there yesterday could be troublesome. Rocktoise sounds a bit strange...Because I don't wan't a golem I choose the turtle.

Totally Ok, the feeds on fireflies is part of another suggestion of mine.

Very well, like the frogs and the ponds only reversed.

I liked the way it looks. The snake with the rooster head reminds me of an old horror comic.

Yes, could be very bad.

Wasn't this the rotten-patch thread? Do you need another reason to slap them out of the air wherever you spot them.^^

The Swamp

In the Swamp there are tentacles, frogs and spiders. Why not add something.

First the Swamp Thing. It acts analogical to the tentacles but it is able to follow the player over short ranges visible through little bubbles. Alternativ it could randomly burst out of a ponf if the player goes near it.

rimg0297kopie.jpg

Second the Snapper. It is more of a scarebeast. It bursts out of ponds if you use your fishing rod stealing your prey.

rimg0298kopie.jpg

Last the Reaper (Krampus of the graves). He's a dangerous ghostly creature which haunts you if you are a merciless, unteachable graverobber.

rimg0300r.jpg

rimg0301.jpg

I'm not sure what he does to the player. I don't think he would simply kill him. Any ideas?

The swamp hand reminds me of a creature from Dragon Quest Monster series. Also, I like the length of your cock

creature thingy...

And I wouldn't be against it... I would just suggest making it unique in terms of name and powers.

Yup, that's the one. I think I mostly complained about the giant maggots that destroyed chests. It's bad enough that the Krampus already does that. Also, instead of a giant fly, why not create a giant mosquito that hunts for prey in the swamp biome? It could be active only at sunset/nightfall and players would first hear its droning wings before it attacked them by the campfire.

To be honest it doesn't seem to be that much different from the tentacle. I would want a new creature that brings something "more" to the table.

Second the Snapper. It is more of a scarebeast. It bursts out of ponds if you use your fishing rod stealing your prey.

I believe another player suggested that in addition to catching fish in ponds perhaps a monster, like a crab, could be pulled out and it would attack the player. This would be similar to that idea... only as a fish it would be trapped in the pond. Maybe you could re-imagine this monster as some kind of amphibian?

Last the Reaper (Krampus of the graves). He's a dangerous ghostly creature which haunts you if you are a merciless, unteachable graverobber.

Soon we won't be able to do anything in the game without a monster appearing. :p

I know, some other bird-looking thing. But there will be others.

How about a giant, man eating Butterfly of Doom?^^

A new idea struck me. Fallbears! They would have the size of a koala and fell from trees the player just chopped down. They will grap on the players head which will confuse him shortly. Then they jump down and try to run to the next tree to hide (a little bit like the gobbler). It doesn't make sense but I don't think sense is necessary.^^
