OrderedChaos
It seems like you can attack things but you can also haunt people, structures etc which makes them glow briefly. Does this have any useful effect?
rezecib
It depends on each individual hauntable thing.Crops will grow a bitTrees normally get chopped once by it, but can also become treeguards.Mushrooms can change color.Hounds can change color.Containers can drop one item (also seems to work on players' inventories, but only some of the time)Pigs can be converted into werepigs.Flowers can be made evil.Graves will summon a ghost. This can be repeated for a ghost armyGems can breakMost creatures will panic for a few seconds. Most structures just glow or may take a hammer hit from being haunted. Most things have a 6.7% chance of catching fire. Most objects will simply be bumped around a little by haunting.Once DST is out of beta I'm sure there will be a compilation of haunting effects on the wiki. Edit: added some things I forgot, as pointed out by people below.

Zomsabra
I once tried to chop down a tree as a ghost, I ended up burning it....I almost freaked out, however, it was not in range of any other trees....thank god.
Ridley
Keep in mind that haunting plants, scructures, and creatures are not good things to haunt. Combustion is a good possibility. Gems also break. Do haunt wickerbottom books, flowers, lonely trees, etc. Experiment, but remember bad things might happen.
Spazmatic
You can make mosquitoes explode aswell, very useful! Making evil flowers out of normal flowers and werepigs out of normal pigmen can be useful too, if the rest wants to farm them. It also makes any creature you haunt act as if it's on fire, so could drive aggro away from the living players.
