How does griefing in TOS go?

Recommended Posts

Well, think about finding a base of some fellow survivor. It has lots of flammable things and structures there. It would be a shame, if anyone SET THEM ABLAZE AND HAMMERED THEM DOWN! And then there's the one of a kind items, like Chester's Eyebone. If that gets nicked and the thief disconnects, you're not gonna get it back...

Welcome, btw!

I'd place money on there being nothing in the TOS about it unless it involves going outside of the game to ruin someone's fun inside it. AKA, if the game allows you to do it, you're allowed to decide what to do with it.

Good admins and good admin tools will be the extent, essentially (imo).

oh and hacking isn't included in what I'm talking about.

There should be a few extra options to mitigate this, like players can't start wildfires until they've been in game for 5 days or something, just enough to stop people from showing up and setting your entire base on fire.

Also an option to force players to drop loot when they disconnect would be useful.

Neither of these would have to be on by default but you could turn them on if you were worried about griefers.

I find it stupid people are already grieving when only a limited amount of players have access to the beta yet. I'd much rather have honest, nice people eagerly waiting for a beta key get one than some stupid griever. Of course Klei can't do anything about this but it just annoys me.

By the amount of the 'grief' topics, seems like most of the Don't Starve community is just getting their first touch in the world of multiplayer.

Grievers have always been and always will. Of course I wish for a solution for that too, but it's a bit of Holy Grail that we're after.
