Host Privileges?

Recommended Posts

With public severs being a thing, there has to be some sort of way for the host to keep the peace.

So what could a host have privilege to?

Being able to kick problematic people from the sever? Muting people? Can the privilege be bestowed onto others?

Should they have any at all?

Do you think that the power would abused?

I think they should have basic kick and ban commands.

I don't think the power being abused should matter. The host is the host.

Since it can be private, you had to know the guy to join anyway right? I don't think people will abuse their friends through bans/kicks.

Public though, is a different story. Maybe a voting system should be implemented to start with, and we can see what would work better when we test it.

Kick/ban privileges for host are an acceptable manner to dismiss immediate problems without hassle but the phrase "judge, jury and executioner" comes to mind… (e.g. you see someone with a torch near you base, are they preparing for night or planing to burn down your home?)

A voting system seems more appealing but slower. (That poor base is already in flames and half the forest)

Regardless, there HAS to be some sort of kicking privileges, I have played my unfortunate share of games without a kick function and have stopped playing because of the griefers in the community.

This suggestion can work both ways. It will cause unnecessary fear. People will be too self conscious to make a mistake in fear the host will kick them. How many times have you accidentally lit something on fire while holding a torch? How many times have you added something to the fire pit as fuel by accident? How many times have you hammered a structure by mistake while holding a hammer? Accidents can happen and if the host has free access to "kick/ban", you have to be a very lucky person to have someone as host with a lot patience and good control of "host" privileges.
