Suggestion of new feature: Disease

Recommended Posts

This is just a brainstorm idea, not a complete design.

My idea is the character would `randomly' get sick, so that extra care would need to be taken to get healed.

For example:

  • Most diseases has an incubation period, so the player would never know exactly when the illness actually take place.
  • Catching disease would add some bad effects, like lower attacking damage, lower attacking speed, sanity drop, etc.
  • When character is ill, a disease meter would appear on the status (like the wetness meter), indicating how serious the illness is.
  • Eating different food would have chance of catching different diseases.

Catching a cold

  • When the character's temprature gets low, and begin to freeze, Every 5 second, there is 20% chance for the character to catch a cold. The effect can stack.
  • The cold takes effect on the next morning. And a cold meter is added to the status.
  • The cold meter value starts at at least 30, but can be higher if you have stacked more.
  • Freezing begins at higher temperature when having a cold.
  • When cold value is above 50, the attack speed is reduced by 50%.
  • When cold value is above 80, eating food may cause vomiting with a chance of 25%, resulting in hunger value drop by 50. Vomiting produce 1 "rot".

Does anyone have more ideas?

It should be like this:

bitten by yellow spider

"Don't worry guys, I'm Okay!"

...two days later ...

"What the ****!!"

Spider Hugos!

Spider Hugos!

Does whatever a SpiderHugos does!

Can he swing, from a web?

No he can't, 'cause spiders don't do that (For some reason)!

WowowowoowoW!

He's spider Hugos!

This was suggested a lot in the past and it's not a bad idea really. I just feel it's a tad bit too micromanaging.

What about this:

Getting freezed or attacked by a few only gives you a small chance of getting ill.

And you won't catch cold in winter, because germs can't survive it. (like people won't catch cold in Antarctica.)

Only something like pandemic, which happens rarely, have high probablility of infection.

You never know which is the critical shot. This makes disease seem like a random event that can hardly be prevented.

So if it cannot be prevented, you don't need the micromanaging.
