gacekssj4
Hello. I never built any walls. Tbh. i recently hadn't played DS too much. but remembered about it.It's quite harsh to survive, if you got no home etc. And I never tried to build a wall... why? Because I can't place doors... How does walling work in don't starve? Is it worth to put resources in walls? Won't monsters go into my "safe area" through gap in wall?Thx for asnwers! Spinorex
Honestly, walls have always been more of an aesthetic thing for me, rather than actual protection. Monsters get by them relatively quickly so I personally don't see them as much in a defensive measure. They look cool though. LadyD
Walls give you some time and a barrier. I tend to make my entrances into short maze needing a few turns to get in. That helps keeps things like roaming pengulls out. Rosten
Walls. Are a pain, they're frustrating to build, annoying to navigate, useless for defense, and don't count towards clopsies sstructures destroyed count Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/31409-how-does-walls-work-if-they-work/#findComment-412955 Share on other sites

darkenspirit
There is a mod for Dont Starve that adds doors/gates. It just lets you craft another piece of the wall that looks identical to the current in game walls except you can walk up to it and right click to turn it on/off. On the pillar is there, and off it goes into the destroyed look where you can walk over it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=196994731 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/31409-how-does-walls-work-if-they-work/#findComment-413430 Share on other sites
Ridley
The best use I have ever found for my walls was making a small stone wall box. Then I smash down one wall and add a straw wall inside. When raising smallbirds, I can temporary seal them off from harm like hound attacks by telling them to attack the straw wall inside the stone wall box. Once they rush inside to attack the cheap wall, I repair the stone wall I smashed earlier and they are stuck inside. This is a very safe way to deal with hound attacks, however i think the fire from the fire hounds will fly over the wall, so always kill them at a distance. Also walls are great for the Houndis Shootis. Beware of Deerclops reach though.
