vimrich
With all the new amulets and such, it would be great to be to wear one and not use up the "body" equipment slot. This is already balanced by the fact that amulets wear out over time, so they would not be equipped all the time. It sucks to have to either drop the backpack, or armor, just to wear an amulet for a while. It doesn't force hard choices, it just makes switching tedious. Armor vs. backpack is already a key swap choice, but many of the new amulets are so different in effect, that having to choose makes them less desirable to even try for. Silentdarkness1
Then make the appropriate staffs instead. Blue amulet is worthless in current state. Better for the blue staff. You'd use the red amulet out of combat anyways. Ditto with a green amulet, and if you don't like it, make a green staff instead. Same with the orange staff, too. Actually, Orange staff is kind of lame. Make your choices. Watcha
Its good having some armour when using the purple amulet, but I guess you can kite... DwerBomb
Hmh...I don't think this is too convenient. The only useful amulet is the red one, and I don't see why you should carry it around since it has durability... Ditto with a green amulet,Hmh...I don't think this is too convenient. The only useful amulet is the red one, and I don't see why you should carry it around since it has durability...Expanding on these, amulets aren't something you should be wearing for any extended periods of time, they're all designed for quickly switching to for but a moment or so to make use of them. Even the ones that are designed to be worn for extended periods of times are best used in situations where you're rarely in danger. For the sake of clarity, I'll make a list.. I've been making a lot of lists lately. This one will be numbered to make further discussion simpler.Life Giving Amulet: The durability will wear down quickly if you're wearing it all the time. It's meant to be put when you're one hit away from losing a fight that you can't walk away from (Hounds, Deerclops, etc.). If you bite the bullet, you come right back and the Amulet is gone. If you survive or at least endure, the Amulet gives you enough health back that you can put your armor back on. Chilled Amulet: If this Amulet is worn for an extended period of time you'll begin to freeze, so it's advisable to wear it when you're getting hit and then taking it off once it's done its job and frozen whatever baddie is attacking you. There are much better ways to regain small amounts of Sanity, using an Amulet that will freeze you to death for Sanity regeneration at such a slow rate seems quite silly to me, personally. Nightmare Amulet: This could be used to fight Hallucinations, granted, but in my experience most people will put this on just long enough to open a chest(er) full of Beardlings, kill them all and bask in their newly acquired Beard Hair and Nightmare Fuel. It's a nice way to get Nightmare Fuel without much effort, and the Beard Hair can be used as very effective fuel if you're not using it to build Meat Effigies. Using this Amulet to fight Hallucinations seems a waste, especially considering it has durability and combat takes quite a bit of time. Lazy Forager: Just walking about with this thing worn will quickly wear down the durability, it's gone after 225 items and it'll pick up every single one of those flints you find just lying around in so many biomes. This Amulet is best put on after an intense fight or while your buddies are killing everything they see left and right so that you can keep going with whatever task you're doing without having to break your stride long enough to pick up all the loot around you. A time saver that you take off when you've got the loot from that army of spiders that thought they could handle you. Magiluminescence: Now I'll give you that this is an Amulet you'll be wearing for an extended amount of time, but it's the only one. A torch that goes around your neck and provides a very small Sanity boost (+2/min) makes this something you'll be wearing throughout the night, which makes it useful for Night, Cave and Ruin exploration. Still, if you find yourself locked in combat you'll want a much larger radius of light than what equates to a torch, in which case you'll be laying something on the ground and find that the Amulet around your neck doesn't need to be worn anymore. Construction Amulet: It reduces the cost of crafting for things by half, best used for Pig Houses or the other things you'll be making at the Ancient Altar to save on your finite supply of Thulecite. It should be fairly obvious that you'll only ever need to wear this when near an Ancient Altar, and I can't recall anytime I've needed to be protected by a Log Suit or needed a Backpack when I'm ready to make Pig Houses. So that's why I've voted no. Hope you found this post informative and helpful. TeoSS69
The thing is you can't just ask for amulet and backpack slots as the items were designed with the fact that they can't be worn together. You have to ask for them to be re-designed too. Same thing goes for Multiplayer. It's not just adding the ability to connect with others. You'd have to re-design mob AI and Item stats too.
