I remember seeing a Don't Starve comic early on, when I was just starting to get into this game, where Wilson turned into a monster because of a meat effigy that was made using monster meat instead of regular meat. I think it would be awesome if this was turned into a mod.

Recipe: Same as with a regular Meat Effigy, only with 8 Cooked Monster Meat instead of 4 Cooked Meat

Operates exactly like a regular meat effigy, until you die, that is. Upon being resurrected, you lose all health bonuses that any non-monster-meat foods would provide, and get boosts to hunger and health when eating raw or cooked monster meat. After ten days, you transform into the mutated monster, your maximum sanity decreasing bit by bit each day. Somewhat similar to werebeaver mode, except you can only eat monster meat. Upon death, you return to normal (but with no sanity.)

While in Meat Mutant mode, your stats are a slightly better werebeaver, with slightly faster speed and more health. Meat Mutant modes eventually drains away just like werebeaver mode. Also, ALL creatures either run away from you or become hostile. Upon returning to normal, you also get 3-8 beard hair : D

One last thing: While you're slowly turning into meat mutant, you can delay it by eating a certain amount of monster meat per day. The further along it is, the higher the monster meat quota must be.

Okay. How about if you get killed, you genuinely die and need another meat effigy to not perma-die. A regular one.

you are likely going to have to do better than that since your "mutant mode" gives you their main ingredient

the idea needs a full overhaul if you ask me

Okay, fine, scrap the beard hair drop then. And I don't know if a full overhaul is in order yet.

Any advantage you gain needs to have a proportionate cost to gain and limited duration, or be balanced with matching penalty. This is a very interesting idea it just needs countermeasures to balance it out.

Just like werebeaver, you can't interact with most items except for smacking the crap out of it. And no inventory. Essentially, this mode is exactly like werebeaver only with monster meat. A better werebeaver. Only you'll basically need another regular meat effigy to not permanently die afterwards. Or a touchstone, which are all finite.
