You can use Tiled to create portions of a map and add them to the world generation.

Hmm... that creates an interesting challenge to making these maps. I'm getting some ideas though.

Get a binary release from:

http://www.mapeditor.org/download.html

Compiling it from the git repo would be a pain, unless you use Linux. There's a reason why the README only has instructions for compilation under Linux (or Mac, using Homebrew, which amounts to porting Linux stuff to it).

But keep in mind that static layouts are only a part of map generation, it's mostly dynamic.

Can someone make a map editor for steam? I want to try this as well, but I suck at coding worldgen, and I can only use mods from steam (Don't ask.)

It's not a mod. It's a 3rd party program.

Tiled is included in the Don't Starve Mod Tools on Steam. Head to Library>Tools.

Oh yes, I had overlooked that. If you use Windows, it's there already (provided you download the Don't Starve mod tools from Steam).

But if you don't have a need for the other tools, you might prefer just downloading Tiled directly.
