AOEO
I have been playing the stand alone version of Don't Starve. However, I want to use Steam and Chrome instead. Is there a way? And if so, how? You time helping me is much appreciated.
aredshroom
Here's a link, though I think the forum transfer ruined its formatting. (x) I don't know what system you're playing on, but these should be where you can find your saves in Windows. Steam: C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\100615270\219740\remoteStandalone: D:\My Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\save To transfer saves, just move the files (E.G "survival_1") over to either of those locations. As far as I know, there's no way to move files to or from Chrome.
Blucher
If you don't find it there, my Steam saved games directory is here:C:\Users\[computer name]\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve

tehMugwump
dam, my steam version stopped working and i was hoping to get the saves from it onto my chrome version Trust me. Don't invest any effort into DS on Chrome. It will only bring headache. You can shoe-horn your game saves in and out, but it's beyond the average Joe's ability. BUT.. if you must >>

AOEO
aaaaannnndddd turns out it didn't work. I found and transfered the files, however. Steam dones't seem to realize the save files are there for some odd reason. Steam was located in Program Files (x86) if that makes a difference. Syd
If you want to fully migrate over to Steam from the standalone version and use Steam cloud saves, move the contents of your save folder from the My Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve location to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*numbers*\219740\remote Alternatively, you can go to C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve and open settings.ini with a text editor. Change DISABLECLOUD = false to DISABLECLOUD = true and then the Steam version will read saves that are in C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve. Keep in mind that changing that setting in the settings.ini file will disable cloud saves, so you may want to back your save up every once in a while. The standalone and Steam versions will also end up reading from the same saves if you do this.
the truthseeker
First off, here are help desk links if you need to find your key to move your account to Steam:https://kleisupport.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1126147-how-keys-work-humble-store-dontstarvegame-com-https://kleisupport.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/872440-where-is-my-game-key-email- and here is a link to your save game locations and more information about the files there via the DS Wiki: http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Saving as well as how save games in Steam work from DS's help center:https://kleisupport.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1203394-i-ve-been-playing-on-steam-and-now-i-can-t-find-my-save-files- Secondly, you may need to create a new game, save it and transfer the save files you backed up to that newly created save file. if that still fails, make sure either you transfer the same gave game number (eg Survival 1) to the newly created save file. if that still fails, try renaming the save game backup files to the newly save game(s) before overwriting them (and make a copy of the original save files first before renaming them, just in case.) Finally, if all else fails, contact support via this link. You may need these items listed
