Quick Question (coming back after a huge break)

when you die, and then retry do you get respawned in the same world just in a different location? or does the entire map get regenerated? back when i used to play it would be the same world and even the same location. but i cant seem to tell anymore, if it is the same world then this thing is HUGE and i cant get my bearings after death and seem to start with zero knowledge of the map/world

new map every time you permanently die. your old map is lost forever.

I too am coming back after a break, but not quite so huge.  

 

If you build, and do not place items, do those still carry over through teleportato?  That makes a big deal about what I will choose to bring through.  I understand you can change charachters now, I wonder if you can change world settings?
