Football Helmets protect you from death?

I got savaged by a pack of hounds while already low on health. I fought them and killed them one by one (they started to fall asleep at night) but as I am not a combat expert by any means, I took many hits. My health was brought low, very low, I couldn't keep track during the fight, but the last hit I took made most of the screen red.

When it was over, my helmet was at 37%, and when I went to check on my health, it was listed as...0? ZERO??!!

Did I just get super-lucky and actually have a fractional health-point rounded down, or does the Helmet protect you from lethal damage for as long as it remains intact?

(Regardless, I was happy to be alive, and happy that the doggies didn't burn down my grass farm.)

since the armor now does not absorb 100% of the damage anymore, I indeed guess that this is the rare case of a fractional healthpoint that got rounded down to 0 but didn't kill you, yes. seems to be the most likely idea, then again, I haven't tried to get myself killed with armor still intact, so I can just guess on that.

Both, armour and helmet have to run out before they kill you, at least from my experience (2 deaths)

The armor does not absorb any more 100% of damage?

I thought only football helmet not absorbed o.o

No matter what you're wearing, you will always take some damage (depending if you wear 1 or 2 protection pieces) so keep in mind to save some honey for the road...

Guess the football helm is the only 'viable' piece of armor now since you gotta lose the bagpack if you want the log armor. I miss it tho :c
