As we all know, crows love shiny things.

So, I suggest that when you drop gold onto the ground, there is a chance that a crow might happen to come along and snatch it, flying away with your limited resource.

Well, it's your own fault! Don't leave valuables in places where animals can get to them!

So yeah, that's my suggestion, crows should be able to steal your gold if you don't put it in a chest.

Maybe we could find his nest with clues found on his fallen feathers.

I feel like that would complicate it too much. Something as simple as crows stealing from the ground shouldn't be overly difficult to implement. There could be a 1/1,000 chance every game tick for the crow to steal it, or something like that. Perhaps even more easily, the presence of gold and a crow at the same time gives a 20% chance of that crow being determined to take it.

That probably wouldn't be too difficult to implement, and would be rather effective at adding challenge to the game.

Having to find the gold again, that might be a pain.

Alternatively though, perhaps crows caught in traps could have a chance at dropping a gold piece, seeing as crows like shiny things. It could even things out. That might make gold a little too common, but I think with the right drop rate that could be an effective balance.

I like that., How do I +1 you?

There really needs to be a like, thumbs up, +1 or whatever button.

Do the crows steal the gold, which king piggy drops and which lies sometimes random on the ground, too? It could be annoying if you give sth. to king piggy.. he drops gold.. but a crow instantly steels it.

BUT it would be awesome if you find a shiny nest with tons of gold in it :greedy_dollars:.

Well as I understand it the crows, and the red birds too, only spawn in the player's immediate area. So gold left in other parts of the map would be safe, that is, until the player enters the immediate area. Think of it like seeds. If you drop seeds on the ground and run off they will stay there. If you drop them and back off a short distance a bird will eventually land and eat them. The same could work for gold, except I would reduce the odds/frequency by about half.

Thanks for that insight.

Perhaps, like you said a 1/2 rate for taking, that makes sense to me.

Will a bird eat your seeds only if you're in the area then? That'd still be an interesting mechanic, as Sooner or later standing around the crow WOULD come pick up your gold.

It could also be that as Soon as the gold piece is no longer on your screen it despawns, since it is a valuable. The second the gold goes away the crow noise could play, implying that a crow stole it.

Then yes, I'm probably in favor of either keeping the same system as we have right now, which could be abused for seeds anyway so it's not too significant a deal of a problem. If it did lead to people hiding gold far away from their base, a more permanent solution could be made anyway. The amount of processing power wouldn't have to be too much anyway, considering that the game would only have to run those random processes for the gold piece, and that gold piece wouldn't exist after a bit.
