Hey gamers!! I recently found a way to make and play with your own dont starve character. In some days i will buy a new laptop so i will be able to work on more stuff. Im sureha that everyone would like to play with his or her own character. So im here and i will work on any characters you give me BUT :He / she has to be shown from the back, the front and both sides and be shown on the selection screen. If you have the time make me a character so you will be the first who i will make his/her character able to be played. Information for my character can be found at the thread : draw your own dont starve character ( or somethink like that ) at the same one as this thread ( art and music ) So what are you waiting for? Draw your character and mine a.nd you may be the first with the playable character!!

Sorry, but I've not enough time for additional stuff. But I'm sure there are enough other members who would like to. Perhaps you want to enter one of the already ongoing RPs.

i think they are finished like the second from wimpang, too late i made one

Im quite wondering why all the characters should start with w

Just a quirky theme for the game I'd say, I don't think it's a vital plot element, just used to separate the protagonists from the antagonist. W ends up having a good connotation whereas M, which is an inverted W gets a bad connotation because of who it's associated with. Basically, if Don't Starve were more character-heavy and we had a bunch of random NPCs running around in the wilderness with you, a W character, no matter how seedy he may look, would probably have good intentions (unless it's meant as a clever trick) and an M character would be somebody to distrust and avoid.Since it's a game largely based on isolation and surviving on your own in a world separated from reality though, adding a lot of NPCs would lose the desired effect... In the end I think it's just supposed to be a small detail to show us that Maxwell holds this overarching role as an evil power, whereas all the W characters are opposed to him, whether or not they're all that innocent themselves (which in most cases, it's implied that they probably aren't).

So you are telling me that w is good and m is bad. But since thats the logic why thete are not that much of m characters? Why only one? If there us good and bad why bad isnt equal with good? I mean each story has its own characters but another bad character could refresh the game couldnt it?

Well that's just the choice the developers went with. It's just a dynamic aspect of storytelling, you don't HAVE to have a set amount of good to evil characters, or even necessarily have completely good or evil characters at all. It's just more common to have in video games because it's more engaging and gives the player something/someone to oppose and be challenged by, a more clear end goal basically.Usually, you have at least one well-developed main character, (Wilson) a handful of side characters with their own stories but not as close of a relationship/struggle against the antagonist, (Willow, Wendy, Wolfgang and all the others) and the main antagonist, who is opposed to all the other characters for some reason or another, though in Don't Starve's case we don't have a concrete knowledge of how each of the unlockable characters ended up in their situation. To me their presence is just to add variety to gameplay and character design, the whole W motif with character names just distinguishes them as protagonists. There's no super-deep meaning behind it (that we know of) it's just a running theme within the game, unless Maxwell REALLY hates people with names that start with W. Back to what I said though, the different protagonists are just a way to change up your gameplay experience and keep things fresh, so if you want a mostly vanilla experience of Don't Starve, with its main character who we know more about than any of the other characters, as well as the ability to grow a sweet beard, you would play as Wilson. Maybe you like the perk of Abigail protecting you at night though, or you just like depressing Shakespearian references about death, so you'd play as Wendy. Or if you're like me and you like a little bit of humor in your character's personality and like having a little more health, hunger and strength, so you'd play as Wolfgang.

You missed a point. " though in Don't Starve's case we don't have a concrete knowledge of how each of the unlockable characters ended up in their situation." we dont even know how they started. What do i mean? Well ok in the trailer we see Wilson fail wuth some chemicals then the radio tells its secrets to wilson he gets to work blah blah and kaboom he ends up in this massive world. Till here everythink looks fine but wait a bit what happened with the others? Im pretty sure that wolfgang didnt fail with chemicals because he is not a scientist at all!! So whats the story behind the others?

Well that wasn't really the point but yeah, it would be nice to hear more about the various side characters. We know enough that Wilson is a gentleman scientist influenced by Maxwell communicating with him through a radio to give him the knowledge to create a teleporter that led to his world, that intro was effective enough in its small details to establish that Wilson is sort of a recluse based on where he lives, that he's pursuing knowledge so fervently that he takes advice from a talking radio and does some things that may not be considered ethical (sort of hinted at when he's tying those two mice together for whatever reason, as well as when he cuts his hand to add blood to the invention) and that he created Maxwell's Door, creating a doorway that others could possibly pass through, not that I'm saying any of the other characters did.All we really know about the others really basic stuff about who they are, like the following:- Willow is a pyromaniac who has burnt down houses (I always had this idea she was from an orphanage, don't know why though)- Wendy is a depressed young girl obsessed with the idea of death, possibly because of her twin sister being dead. It seems like she's either haunted by Abigail, or simply followed by her because they're twin sisters and are connected. Interesting that Abigail can hurt Wendy too if she comes too close though. I wonder if Wendy had anything to do with Abigail's death, or if she's just still grieving over it.- Wolfgang is a circus strongman, maybe he left and somehow found his way into Maxwell's Door, I kind of get the idea he just assumes the strongman role because of the perks of his character, rather than any storyline significance. So yeah, there's really nothing to be said for the backstories at the moment, they just aren't really there yet, and I don't know if they will be, or if these characters are just to provide different ways to play.Anyways this isn't even the thread topic, we should probably not derail it any more than it's already been. XD

i've been writing stories of some of their origins (so far: Wes, WX-78, soon Wendy)

Cant draw? No problem make a story for my character Watson and i will make your character if you give me some infoBy the way Watson's father is a psychologist Maxwell took him from his father and left him in the wilderness. Watson managed to be raised by the bunnymen but Maxwell took him again... Make me this story and i will make your character deal?
