Monster Meat

There are a few things I wish monster meat did:

-use as bait to poison animals (if they were some vicious carnivores that were added like wolves or bears or werebears [Ooooh, caves... yes, caves!])

-use as bait to make animals go crazy and rampage (i.e. mix 3x Monster meat and grass then feed it to a buffalo and make them turn on the everything around them. Just thought it would be funny)

basically just use the monster meat like a poison to manipulate the world.

or mixing it with carrots to make crazy killer rabbits (i know the killer rabbits thing is everywhere) but just think there a re a lot of things you could use a "poison" or "insanity food" or maybe make a quest out of eating lots of monster meat can spawn something big to fight you or for you. Or give you the ability to turn into a spider, lol. So many things you could put in the magic research.

What do people want Monster Meat used for, other than suicide pills?

Well right now I use monster meat for:

1. Feeding to pig men to gain temporary loyal servants

2. Used in crock pot to create meaty stew (no damage on consumption)

3. Spider bait, either to lure spiders to tentacles (i.e. to get them to attack it) or for traps

Of course it's also desperation food... when you're starving and still have health. So right now I think it works just fine, although I think the crock pot shouldn't magically "clean-up" monster meat.

I only got the game 2 days ago so i haven't experimented all to much with the monster meat aside from dying the first time I cooked it, lol. Personally I don't think you should be able to use it as food seems how moving a spider nest right next to your base would make the game way to easy if you were easily able to consume the stuff like you are saying with the stew. I think it should stay a poison. More interesting that way.

Of course you would first need to research the crock pot and then build it. The building part is fairly simple though.

speaking of researching, it's a pretty broken mechanic because really all you have to do is get the mats for the science machine and find a graveyard, dig'm all up, then restart, rinse and repeat. Personally i think the whole mechanic should be rethought or reset every time to encourage you to survive. It makes itself the goal of the game with pretty easy loopholes. I know the devs said it was just to slow down what people use so they get to know them all, but i think having it persistent over many games makes dying a non issue seems how you just pick up where you left off.

Some types of poison can be destroyed by heat. Almonds are heat treated before being sold to remove their cyanide content. Cassava root is either boiled or steamed to remove toxins, certain mushrooms have to be cooked first to become edible, lima beans are poisonous unless cooked, same with kidney beans. I don't know of any toxins produced by animals that can be cooked out but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

All I know is that cooking monster meat over a fire nets you monster meat steak, that will still hurt you if you eat it. But if you cook it in the crock pot it becomes generic meat. I'm not saying it's impossible, just unlikely...

It's also the amount of heat over time. Cooking something for many hours in lower heat, moist environment is very possible, while the same amount of time over an open flame will net you a chunk of carbon. Not only that the moist heat will leach out toxins and impurities into the water while dry heat will concentrate them (if the cooking time isn't long enough to at least partially destroy them).
